Clark’s Varsity teams both fared well with 3rd place finishes at the NISD meet on Saturday, October 10th.  Twenty five teams covered the course at Hardin Athletic Complex on a cool, overcast morning.  Shantel Swift (12:31) was 2nd in the 2 mile girls race and Glynnis Meade was 4th (12:36).  Rounding out the team scoring were Mel Schwartz (13:31), Shaneve Swift (13:36), and Katherine Ritchie (13:42).  The boys team were led by 5th/6th place David Scorcelletti (16:41) and Austin Wells (16:42) for the 3 mile course.  Jose Sierra (17:15), Ryan Pavlich (17:29), and Jim Wells (18:21) were next in for the Cougars.  Pictures of the Varsity and JV races can be found at http://clarkcrosscountry2009.shutterfly.com/.

The JV teams will be at the Central Catholic Relays on Wednesday, and Varsity will travel to Seguin on Saturday.  Countdown to District – 3 weeks!

Say that five times!

The Cougar Cross Country teams finally got to run the Judson meet after it was delayed a week due to – what else – rain!  The normally dry creek bed had enough water to make things a bit tricky as it was crossed several times.  Varsity Boys finished strong with David Scorcelletti, Jose Sierra and Austin Wells finishing 2nd, 4th and 11th, followed by Ryan Pavlich, Harry MacTough, Matt Bastoni and Devon Gonzales.  Glynnis Meade and Shantel Swift led the Varsity Girls, placing 2nd and 4th.  Next in were Stacey Wilkins, Shaneve Swift, Katherine Ritchie and Mel Schwartz.  Both Varsity teams placed 3rd.  The Girls JV team was 5th and Boys JV were 11th.
The Varsity team travels to Round Rock on Saturday, Oct 3rd for the McNeil Invitational.  They will run in the Gold division, which is a 5k for both teams.  Check out our puddle spashing pictures at http://clarkcrosscountry2009.shutterfly.com/.

The Clark Varsity Cross Country teams headed back to a much dryer Brooks City Base course this week for the Ricardo Romo (UTSA) meet.  They were entered in the Gold Division, which is open to all schools, not just 5A, which makes for a very competitive field.

The girls were again led by Shantel Swift, 8th (11:59) and Glynnis Meade, 11th (12:01) out of 192 runners for the 2 mile course, and were the fastest of all the NISD entrants.  The team placed 13th out of 29 teams, the highest place for any of the NISD teams entered, and just ahead of District rival Brandeis.  Shaneve Swift (13:07), Katherine Ritchie (13:18), and Mel Schwartz (13:24) also contributed to the team score.
The boys placed 17th out of 28 teams, with David Scorcelletti (16:21) placing 34th and Jose Sierra (16:40) 44th out of 204 entrants for their 3 mile race.  Next in for Clark were James Leopold (17:09), Austin Wells (17:21) and John Bodkin (19:05).
Both the Varsity and JV teams will be at the Judson meet on Wednesday, September 23rd.  For pictures of today’s meet, see http://clarkcrosscountry2009.shutterfly.com.
