Clark Cross Country team in 1st meet

The Clark Cougar Cross Country team headed to Brooks City Base on Saturday for the NEISD meet.  The rain held off until the middle of the Varsity boys race, and from then on, the course was a muddy mess.  Congrats to the Varsity boys for finishing 7th out of 29 schools, only a few points behind O’Connor for the 3 mile course!  The team was led by David Scorcelletti, 16:55 and Jose Sierra, 17:05, followed by James Leopold, 17:43, Austin Wells, 17:50, Ryan Pavlich, 17:52, John Bodkin, 18:47 and Devon Gonzales, 18:48.

The Varsity girls team finished 9th out of 31 teams, led by two top-10 finishers over the 2 mile course, Shantel Swift, 6th (12:19), and Glynnis Meade, 9th (12:27).  Rounding out the girls team were Stacey Wilkens, 13:23, Mel Schwartz, 13:37, Shaneve Swift, 13:41, Katherine Ritchie, 13:41 and Kathrine Reamsnyder, 14:15.
The JV Boys were led by Matt Bastoni, Harry MacTough, Phillip Meyer, Alex Scorcelletti and Gabe Reichman.  Top 5 JV Girls were Kara Jarzombek, Catherine Seifert, Ariel Schmid, Mary Maloney and Valerie Vacek.  Good job everyone – considering the conditions.
Next up for the JV team is the the Incarnate Word meet on Thursday, and for Varsity, the Ricardo Romo (UTSA) meet on Saturday.  Both are at Brooks City Base.
