Congratulations to Harry MacTough, a Clark Cross Country senior, on being named the Scholar Athlete of the Week on Thursday Night Lights broadcast. Harry has a 104 grade point average, is the senior representative on the Clark Interact club, captain on the Science Bowl team and is ranked #1 in the Class of 2013. Also an Eagle Scout, Harry represents Clark well on the course and in the classroom. The award makes him eligible for a $5000 scholarship to be given at the end of the year.

CROSS COUNTRY ADDS DISTANCE & MEDALS

Wet grounds made for challenging races today at the UTSA Invitational Cross Country meet, held at Brooks City Base. Sophomore Austin Wells led the Varsity Boys, placing 7th in a fast 15:49. Junior Aidan Pierce finished next in 17:54, followed by two freshman, Nicholas Moseley 19:05 and Daniel Carcamo 19:11, then sophomore Harry MacTough 19;13 and junior Mark Pena 19:15.
CROSS COUNTRY TURNS INTO ROADIES

Wet weather this week moved the NEISD Cross Country meet on Saturday, Sept 11th to Blossom Athletic Complex, which meant running through the parking lots and surrounding streets with the finish in Comalander Stadium. It was another big meet, with 28 girls teams and 33 boys teams competing, including many from NISD and NEISD. Top 10 finishers for the girls were Glynnis Meade, 2nd place (12:03.6) and Shantel Swift, 7th place (12:17.2), followed by Katherine Ritchie (13:45), Amanda De La Fuente (13:45), Valerie Vacek (14:28), Catherine Seifert (14:57) and Lauren Porter (15:07). Brandeis took the 1st place girls team spot, with Clark the next NISD team, placing 6th.
Austin Wells placed 3rd overall for the boys (16:48.9), with Aidan Pierce next (19:56), then Harry MacTough (20:16), Nicholas Moseley (20:18), Tyrell Lewis (20:19), and Daniel Carcomo (20:40). Both courses were slightly longer than the expected 2 and 3 miles.

The Clark Cougar Cross Country team headed to Brooks City Base on Saturday for the NEISD meet. The rain held off until the middle of the Varsity boys race, and from then on, the course was a muddy mess. Congrats to the Varsity boys for finishing 7th out of 29 schools, only a few points behind O’Connor for the 3 mile course! The team was led by David Scorcelletti, 16:55 and Jose Sierra, 17:05, followed by James Leopold, 17:43, Austin Wells, 17:50, Ryan Pavlich, 17:52, John Bodkin, 18:47 and Devon Gonzales, 18:48.
