COUGARS CLAW TO VICTORY OVER BRONCOS

Vasquez leaves 'em in dust on way to 80 yd. TD in the 1st half

A much improved Brandeis Broncos team, led by Kyle Sewell, gave the Clark Cougars all they had but couldn’t overcome a strong offensive and defensive Cougar performance, losing to Clark 33-14.  Joe Vasquez, the TSRN player of the game, came up big with two TD receptions, one from QB Hayden Greenbauer and one from RB Ryan Jones.  K Webb Williams tacked on two field goals of 41 and 44 yards and the defense stuffed the Brandeis offense.

The Cougars are now 3-0 and the only undefeated team in District 28-5A and have a 1-0 district record.

MUDBOWL ’09: CLARK JV SOILS BRANDEIS

Holmes shows Bronco who's the chief

Holmes shows Bronco who's the chief

Here’s all you need to know about the Clark Cougar JV victory over the Brandeis Broncos: sloppy conditions, sharp air and ground attack led by Sean Campbell and Austin Wise in the first half and Troy Ogletree and Deandre Holmes in the second half and a defense that dominated.

Following a torrential downpour, the Cougars came out of the locker room fired up and ready to win and that’s exactly what they did, 14-0.  The defense recorded two interceptions and several stops while Campbell connected with Wise for one TD and several completions.

The sophomore team also busted the Broncos.  Way to go COOGS!

ALAMODOME 5A CHAMPIONSHIPS

by on Sep.11, 2009, under Football

Reports out of Austin are that the Texas 5A championships wil be played in the Alamodome this year. Originally to be held in the house that Jerry built in “little d” (refer to census bureau numbers), and rotated between Houston, Dallas and San Antonio every two years, the games in Dallas were-for lack of a better phrase- booted from Jerry’s place like the Cowboys in a first round playoff.
Congratulations to the Alamodome staff and we hope to fill it up with Clark Cougars later this season.
