Defense denies Chargers credit

The Clark Cougar varsity football team, with a first game domination of the Churchill Chargers in a 27-0 win, impressed local and statewide media.  The Express News moved them from a #4 preseason ranking to #3.  KSAT 12 moved the Cougars from #5 to #3, and Dave Campbell’s Texas Football was impressed enough to move the Cougars from #16 in the state of Texas to # 13.

Congratulations to senior Clark Cougar Robert Chapman.  Not only successful on the field, the center/deep snapper for varsity football received a statewide award for his work in the classroom. Chapman made the third annual Pre Season All Academic Football Team for the state of Texas announced by Randy Rodgers and Dave Campbell’s Texas Football.  Congratulations, Robert.

Tilghman's the Best!

The winter edition of Dave Campbell’s Texas Football is out and San Antonio Clark Cougar senior RB Jock Tilghman is the 5A Player of the Year.  The leading rusher in 5A is featured in the magazine and was also All-District and the San Antonio Express News’ Offfensive Player of the Year.

CLARK IN FINAL TOP TEN RANKINGS

Dave Campbell’s Texas Football, the “bible” of all things Texas and football, has released its final Top 25 rankings for Texas High School Football.  A  13-2 season and a first-ever trip to the state semifinals earned the 2008 edition of the Clark Cougars a #9 ranking.  Clark was the top ranked team for Region 4 which includes Smithson Valley (#10), SA Reagan (#14) and Austin Westlake (#17).

The Cougars were not ranked in the poll prior to the start of the season.  No other San Antonio area team made the list.
