JV SOCCER BLOWS BY WARREN

The Clark JV boy’s soccer team racked up the goals on its way to a 5-1 victory over Warren. Forward Bruno DiPetta led the scoring pack with a 3 goal hat trick. Carlos Sepulveda and Rodrigo Soto added one goal each. The Cougars have two games remaining and are in first place in District 28-5A.
CHURCHILL FOOTBALL COACH CHANGE

Carl Gustafson, head football coach at Churchill and a former assistant coach at Clark, is making a move to the administrative side. Gustafson was named NEISD’s interim assistant director for athletics. He has been head coach and athletic coordinator at Churchill for 10 years. His replacement may be named by April. Gustafson was a football assistant under coach Mike Robbins at Clark during the 1990’s.
CLARK BASEBALL PLACES THIRD IN NEISD TOURNEY

The Cougars opened play in the Northeast District tournament with a 9-2 loss to Austin Bowie. Tyler Reinagel and Jimmy Wells handled the pitching duties. In the second game Clark beat Churchill 7-5 with Vincent Salazar and Ryan Skowronski on the mound. Against South San, the Cougars lost 7-4. Jimmy Wells, Trey Doebbler and Braden Mattson hit for the Cougars. In the last game to decide the third place finisher Clark defeated #3 ranked MacArthur 7-6. Pitcher Jason Cervantes got the win for the Cougars.
SOFTBALL DROPS GAME TO MARSHALL

The Clark softball team came up on the short end of a 2-1 game against Marshall for its first district loss of the young season. Hennessey Soto pitched the entire game for the Cougars.
SOCCER GETS 2 W’S FROM WARREN

The Clark girls soccer team posted a much needed district 28-5A win over Warren. Rebekah Richards provided the goal in the 1-0 victory and the Clark defense and goalkeeper Amy Ross stayed tough with another shut out.
On the boy’s side the Cougars also won in a shut out. The final score was 1-0 on a goal from Francisco Garza. Two district games remain in the regular season for Clark against Taft and Holmes.

The Clark Cougars softball team scored 4 runs, beating Stevens 4-3. Meagan Aragones and Christina Rodriguez had hits with Christina earning two RBI’s. Meagan got the win for the Cougars.
BASEBALL WINS AGAIN

In a District 28-5A game, Joseph Ybarra made sure the Cougars came away with a win. Hitting two home runs, he helped beat Stevens 3-2. Carl O’Neal pitched a complete game, going all seven innings.
MILLER’S RECORD BREAKING SEASON

Chelsea Miller has record breaking year
Clark swimmer Chelsea Miller shattered 22 year old school records this year in three events — the 100 breaststroke, the 200 breaststroke and the 200 IM. The records had stood since 1986-87. Miller was the lone Northside ISD representative this year at the 5A State Swim Meet in Austin finishing 8th in the 100 breaststroke and 11th in the 200 IM. Miller now holds four Clark swim records. She is a junior.
LIFT-A-THON SUCCESS

The annual Lift-A-Thon, sponsored by the Clark Texas Football Club, was another huge success. The event played to a packed house of enthusiastic Cougar supporters. The Lift-A-Thon, backed by individual and business sponsors, is the only fundraiser for Clark Cougar football and provides a good look at the strength of next season’s defending Regional Champions. Several players exceeded their personal best records with Juniors Greg Castro and Robert Chapman leading the way. Clark’s Top Cats dance team provided entertainment.
