Hernandez heads home

The Clark Cougar baseball team advanced to the second round of the playoffs with a 4-3 victory over South San.  Jason Cervantes gave the Cougars a 1-0 lead in the 1st inning with a double, sending Hunter McFall across the plate. South San then went ahead in the top of the 5th inning but in the bottom of the inning, Peter Rozanski hit a single to get the Cougars started. Vincent Salazar advanced to first on a walk. He was followed by pinch hitter Diego Hernandez, who crushed the ball for a three run homer, giving the Cougars the lead. Vincent Salazar threw a complete game.

Jimmy Wells doubled in the 2nd inning. Braden Mattson and Jonathon Fargnoli each had singles in the 5th.  Hunter McFall also had a great game in right field, making key outs in the Cougar victory.

Next up for the Cougars is a rematch with Austin Westlake.  The game is on Tuesday at Texas State and the time to be announced.
