SWIFTS STRIDE SOUTH, SECURE SILVER

Congratulations to former Clark Cougars Shaneve and Shantel Swift, who are running for their native country of Belize in the XXIII Central America Senior Championships.
Shaneve won a silver medal in the 200m and both she and her sister, Shantel, received medals in relay events. Shaneve runs for Incarnate Word and Shantel will be running for UTSA this year. Read more about these world class runners here.

UPDATE: Belize took the Bronze medal overall in the games, thanks in part, to our former Cougars!
MEADE ADDS TO GREAT SEASON

Already named an NCCAA All American in her first collegiate year, 2011 Clark Alumni Glynnis Meade added another achievement to her list on Friday May 4th. In her second 10k (25 laps!) for the outdoor track season, she placed 3rd overall in 39:00.29 on a windy day in Joliet, Illinois. Glynnis runs for the Dallas Baptist University Patriots and also qualified for the national meet in the 5k. Congratulations!
SWIFT TRIP TO STATE

Congratulations to Shantel Swift, who placed 2nd in the 400m (with a personal record of 56.76), 4th in the 100m and 2nd in the Triple jump at the Region IV track and field meet. She will be headed to the state meet in two weeks to compete as well as boys 3200m winner Austin Wells. Shantel also represented Clark at the Cross Country state meet in the fall.
Also at the regional meet, the boys 4×100 placed 6th and Presely Miller placed 6th in the 100m hurdles.

Congratulations to Clark Cougar junior Austin Wells who will be competing at the Texas state track meet after winning the Region IV 3200m race. Austin, a national AAU gold medalist, also competed earlier this season at state in cross country. Enjoy this video of his regional race (as the video begins, Austin is in 3rd place):

BOYS TRACK AND FIELD WINS DISTRICT TITLE

Congratulations to the Clark Cougar boys varsity track and field who brought home the district 27-5A title for the first time in 20 years. The win was set up by several wins in the field events and a gold medal in the 3200m by Austin Wells, and the sprinters carried the baton from there.
Brandon Yates took gold in the 200m, Ben Deschner took gold in the 400m, Presley Miller took gold in the 110m hurdles and bronze in the 300m hurdles, and the Clark 4 x 100 relay team took gold as well.
The Clark girls team placed 6th at the district meet. Shantel Swift placed 1st in the 100m, 3rd in the 200m and 1st in the 400m.
Congratulations to the Cougars and Coach Allen and Wilson for a great district win.

COUGARS RUNNING TO REGION, WHIPPING DISTRICT FOES

On the first day of the 27-5A Track and Field district meet, Cougars stood on the winner’s platform often on their way to district awards and regional appearances. Shantel Swift took gold in the Triple Jump with a distance of 37-6.5 feet. Sean Campell wore silver in the Shot Put with a distance of 46-6.25 with Stuart Cram taking bronze at 45-9. Nathan Barrientez threw the discus 142-6.75 feet to win the event.
Austin Wells continued his winning ways with a first place in the 3200m race with a time of 9:27:13
More track events are scheduled for today (below)as the meet continues with the Clark boys team heavily favored to win the district title.

BOYS TRACK WINS EDGEWOOD RELAYS

It was a great Saturday for Clark track at Mata Stadium as they finished first out of 14 teams in the Edgewood Relays. Among the top finishers of the day were William Young who placed first in the Triple Jump, Malcolm Eatman who finished first in the 100 meter, Austin Wells finished first in the 3200 meter and second in the 1600 meter, Ben Deschner was first in the 400 meter and Presley Miller came in first in the 110 hurdles. The Clark relay teams finished first in both the 400 meter and 800 meter races. Brandon Yates took second place in the 200 meter and Ryan Pavlich finished third in the 800 meter. More..
ALL AMERICAN MEADE!

2011 Clark alum Glynnis Meade earned All American honors at the NCCAA (Christian) Indoor Track Meet in Cedarville, Ohio on Saturday, February 18th. Her 2nd place finish in the women’s 5000 meters, timed in 18:32.1, was a PR over the distance. She also finished 6th place in the 3000 meters. Glynnis competes for Dallas Baptist University. Congratulations!
CLARK’S GOLDEN BOY

Clark Cougar Austin Wells outran the competition at the 2011 AAU Junior Olympics in New Orleans on August 6th finishing the 3000 meter run with a time of 9:14.23 and winning the gold medal. Wells, who runs cross country and track for Clark, was competing against 64 athletes from across the US, Puerto Rico, the UK and Korea. He placed 1st in the AAU Area 14 District Qualifier in Round Rock, TX and 1st in the National Qualifier in Converse,TX to qualify to go to the National Championship event.
