COUGARS WIN, DISTRICT 28-5A ALL TIED UP

Down 6-3 in the 4th, Peter Rozanski led off the inning with a home run and the Cougars never looked back as they outplayed the O’Connor Panthers for a 8-7 win and a tie for the District 28-5A lead. Vincent Salazar pitched for the win. Joseph Ybarra also homered in the 1st. Hunter McFall had key hits and RBIs for the Cougars, including a double and a hit for the go ahead run. He was also named the Texas State Radio Network Player of the Game. Salazar (6-0) retired nine straight on his way to the victory. Carl O’Neal entered the 7th for the save.
W-W-W-W-W-W-W-W; COUGAR BASEBALL WINS AGAIN

8 in a row. 4 by 10. 10 hits. Any way you look at the numbers, they add up to a 10-2 District 28-5A record, 2nd in District and #6 in the city. The Cougars walloped the” John Jays” 13-3 (an original term from the greeat guys at Clark Texas Football Club). The Cougars jumped on them early with a 6-0 lead after two innings. Carl O’Neal once again went the distance for the win. Several players hit including Jonathon Fargnoli who started a double play in the fourth, tripled in the same inning and then finished the Mustangs off with a double in the fifth, ending the game as the ten run rule was reached. Next game is a big one against district leading O’Connor on Tuesday.
COUGARS RANKED #6, MAUL MARSHALL

The Clark Cougar varsity baseball team won again. This time it was the Marshall Rams who took the beating, losing to the Cougars 4-1. Vincent Salazar went the distance and got the win. Joseph Ybarra and Trey Doebbler took the Rams deep with the long ball. The Cougars also earned a #6 ranking by the Express News thanks in part to a win streak that now totals seven in a row in District 28-5A.
COUGARS ON FIRE; SMOKE STEVENS

Earlier this week, Carl O’Neal was named Express News Player of the Week. After the Clark Cougars took on #6 Stevens, they’ll be calling him The Fireman. Nothing but heat crossed the plate as O’Neal torched the Falcons for a shutout and the rest of the team hit like h-e-double-toothpicks, lighting them up for ten runs. The final: 10-0 Clark over Stevens. The win gives Clark a solid number two position in district, smokin’ their way towards the playoffs. In the past four Clark wins, they’ve outscored their opponents 45-4. THAT’S HOT! Congrats!

O’NEAL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Congratulations to Clark varsity baseball player Carl O’Neal, who was named the Express News Player of the Week. In his complete game against Holmes, O’Neal stuck out 17 batters, and gave the Cougars a 7-1 victory. The Cougars are currently 2nd in district play with a key game against Stevens on Friday.

Vincent Salazar pitched and got the win, Tyler Reinagel and Ryan Skowronski came in for relief and the Cougars rolled to a 18-3 victory over Brandeis. Joseph Ybarra hit two homeruns to contribute to the victory. An important district game is up next with Stevens.

Clark baseball won its non-district game against Central Catholic 8-5 at Northside field. Ryan Skowronski started on the mound for the Cougars and Tyler Reinagel finished the game. Braden Mattson and Trey Doebbler each had homeruns.
Clark resumes district play on March 24th against Taft.
