SOCCER ADVANCES IN PLAYOFFS

The Clark boys soccer team took care of first round opponent Corpus Christi Carroll on Monday, winning 3-1. The Cougars got goals from Vinnie Guerrero, Jair Rodriguez and Romero Villalvazo. Carlos Sepulveda and Guerrero had assists on the goals. In fact, Guerrero finished the regular season as the assists leader in the San Antonio area with 23.
Next up for Clark is a showdown with Reagan on Thursday at 7:30 at NEISD’s Comalander Stadium. Come out and support your Cougars!

SOCCER WINS

The Clark boys and girls soccer teams added another notch to their respective win columns on Tuesday with victories over Taft. The girls won 3-2 with goals from Frances Moore, Monique Rempel and Chloe Trevino. Blair Socha helped it happen with 2 assists and goalkeeper Hollis Scheffler had six saves. Their district record is now 5-3-1.
In the boys game the Cougars won 5-3 with a goal and an assist each from Vinnie Guerrero, Yamil Alvarado and Manuel Garcia and goals from Alex Martinez and Tristan Cavazos. Romero Villalvazo and Carlos Sepulveda also had assists. The win brings their district record to 7-1-1.
Both teams play Marshall on Friday at Farris, the girls at 5:00 and boys following at 7:00.

SOCCER ROCKIN’

Clark boys soccer notched another district win on Tuesday, beating Marshall 4-0. Goals came from the feet of Jair Rodriguez, Vinnie Guerrero and Yamil Alvarado who had two – Carlos Sepulveda had two assists. This follows a weekend of tournament play in Boerne’s Hill Country Shoot Out where they beat Lee and Boerne Champion and tied last year’s State Semifinalist Brownsville Porter in a 3-3 scorefest and Austin’s St Stephens 1-1.
The Clark boys are now 7-0-2, ranked second in the San Antonio area and now recognized nationally with a fresh appearance in the ESPN Fab 50 High School rankings at #50 – the only San Antonio school in the rankings.
The Clark girls continue to play tough, battling Marshall to a 2-2 tie on Tuesday. Cougar goals came from Alyssa Jacobs and Briana Saldana with an assist from Blair Socha. District play continues at noon on Saturday with a Farris stadium showdown against Brandeis – the boys game follows at 2:00.

SOCCER OPENS DISTRICT

Clark girls and boys soccer got district play underway early with a match up against Taft. The boys came out strong with a 4-0 thrashing of the Raiders – three of the four goals came in the first half. Scoring for the Coogs were Jair Rodriguez, Vinnie Guerrero, Carlos Sepulveda and Manual Garcia. Guerrero had three assists in the Clark scoring barrage.
The girls lost a close one to the Raiders 1-2. Lexi Platz had the goal off a Chloe Trevino assist.
Tournament play continues through this weekend for both teams.
SOCCER ROLLING

The Clark boys soccer team cranked up the scoring to finish the New Braunfels tournament with a 3-0 record. After defeating Boerne Champion 1-0 on Friday the Cougars beat Pflugerville Connally 4-0 in the first game on Saturday and Smithson Valley 4-0 in the second. Goals came from Jair Rodriguez, Vinnie Guerrero, Carlos Sepulveda and John Cintron in the first game. Sepulveda had two in the second game and Rodriguez had one along with Yamil Alvarado.
After winning their first game on Friday, the Clark girls lost a close game to Judson on Saturday in the Northside tournament 2-1. Blair Socha scored for the Cougars. The second game was a 0-2 loss to Boerne Champion.
Both girls and boys teams open district on Tuesday against Taft at Farris with the boys starting at 5:00 and girls at 7:00.

CLARK DOMINATES SOUTH SAN~WINS BI-DISTRICT

An enthusiastic Clark crowd saw the boys soccer team use speed and skill to control their bi-district match up against South San on Monday, winning 4-1. Jair Rodriguez had two goals and Vinnie Guerrero and Oscar Barboza finished with one each. Three of the Clark goals came in the first 25 minutes of the game and the Bobcat’s lone goal was in the last minute.
