GAME DAY!

Before the fall school bell rings, the Clark Cougars will head to the courts and fields, kicking off the 2010 athletic schedule. Coach Kristen Daniell and the varsity volleyball girls take on the Churchill Chargers at 5:30pm at Paul Taylor field house. The Chargers are ranked #1 in the Express News preseason poll.
At Clark, the football teams start fall practice. First year head coach Steven McGhee begins a new era with a relatively young roster and players returning from a 13-1 season in key areas.
Finally, season ticket sales for the varsity football season go on sale at the cafeteria on campus at 6pm.

CLARK NAMES NEW HEAD FOOTBALL COACH

Steven McGhee, Clark class of ’88, has been named to succeed Lloyd Alexander as the Cougar’s Athletic Coordinator and Head Football Coach. McGhee has served as a Football Coordinator and Assistant Coach at Clark for the past 8 years. Prior to that he coached at O’Connor, Reagan and was a member of the Roosevelt staff that won the 5A state championship in 1995.
As a student in the late ’80’s McGhee played football at Clark and was named to the All State team as a tight end in 1987. He received his B.S. degree from the University of Texas at Austin and his Masters from Texas A&M Kingsville. He and his wife Christine have three children.
Principal Stanley Laing made the announcement and commented about the promotion from within the Clark family, “Congratulations to Steve McGhee as our new head football coach and athletic coordinator. Coach McGhee is replacing Coach Alexander, who is retiring at the end of this school year. The success in all our athletic programs is no secret. A lot of that has to do with the consistency in our athletic program over the years and coaches committed to developing our students through the spirit of competition along with demanding successful student learning in the classroom. Under Coach McGhee’s direction, that will continue.”

Also, NISD has announced that Defensive Coordinator David Malesky of O’Connor will take Danny Padron’s place as the AC/HC at O’Connor.
