The Clark boys track and field team placed 3rd at the District Meet this week and will send several athletes to the Regional Meet. Top results included: 2nd place for Brandon Yates in the 200 meter (22.08), 2nd place for Ben Deschner in the 400 meter (51.77), 3rd place for Austin Wells in the 1600 meter (4:28.27) and 2nd place for Wells in the 3200 meter (9:35.95), 1st place for Kyle Rutledge in the High Jump (6’2″), 2nd place for Jimmy Kueber in the Shot Put (48′ 9.5″), 2nd place for Kueber in the Discus (148′ 5″), 2nd place for the 4×100 Relay (42.38) and 2nd place for the 4×200 Relay (1:29.38) – Relay team is Brian Socha, Brandon Yates, Travis Cooke and Malcolm Eatman. Swift and Perez advance to State Meet

Two Clark Cougars qualified for State at the Region IV Track meet, held at a hot Alamo Stadium on May 3-4.  Congratulations to Shaneve Swift for winning the 400m Dash (57.04) and to Sam Perez for placing 2nd in the 800m Dash (1:56.6).

Others making it to the finals were the Girls 4x100m relay (Luisa Garza, Shaneve, Esjah Booker, Shantel Swift) – 3rd in 48.18, Hayden Greenbauer – 4th in the 110m Hurdles (14.93), Girls 4x200m relay (Triniqua Collins, Shantel, Esjah, Luisa) – 4th in 1:44, and the Boys 4x400m relay (Travis Cooke, Ryan Jones, Sam, Hayden).  Overall, the Girls finished 7th out of of 38 teams, and the Boys, 12th out of 41 teams.

Well done Cougars!

Clark appears several time on the first Track Area Leaders list for the 2010 season.  Hayden Greenbauer has the top time for the 110m hurdles (14:38), Shantel Swift is 2nd for Long Jump (17-10 1/2) and Shaneve Swift is 3rd for the 200m dash.  The Girls 400m (Triniqua Collins, Shaneve, Esjah Booker, Luisa Garza)  and 800m ((Triniqua, Shaneve, Esjah, Shantel) relay teams are the FASTEST around, 49.15 and 1:44.25 respectively.  Congrats to all!

Clark Cougar Track at Mule Relays

At the Mule Relays at Alamo Heights the men’s and ladies track teams had great results.  The men’s team took 1st place, including setting a new meet record in the 800 relay by sprinters Ryan Flournoy, Ryan Jones, Joe Nichols and Joe Vasquez.  The ladies team took 2nd place overall, with outstanding performances by Shaneve Swift, Glynnis Meade and the girls 1600m relay team (Luisa Garza, Shaneve Swift, Shantel Swift and Jasmine Robertson).
