VOLLEYBALL SENDS HUSKIES TO DOG HOUSE

The Clark Cougar varsity volleyball team swept the Holmes Huskies in district play, 25-21, 26-24 and 25-17. Jennifer Garrett and Hunter Cole each registered 13 kills, Abby Glosup posted a staggering 39 assists and Nicole Rehm and Marcella Arellano had 11 and 19 digs, respectively.
The Cougars have won their last 9 sets in three games. The win boosts the Cougars’ record to 5-2 in district and 19-12 overall. They are currently in a tie for 3rd in the District 27-5A standings.
Way to go, ladies!
VOLLEYBALL DOMINATES JAY

Clark volleyball scored a 3-0 win over the Jay Mustangs on Wednesday at Paul Taylor Fieldhouse. Behind 9 kills from Jenn Garrett and 8 kills from Rosalyn Velasquez the Cougars controlled all three games winning 25-8, 25-12, and 25-20. Abby Glosup added 19 assists while Nicole Rehm and Marcella Arellano posted 10 digs each.
The win boosts Clark’s district record to 3-1 and season record to 16-11. Next up is a showdown against district leading Warren on Friday at 7:00 in the gym at O’Connor. The Cougars have already beaten Warren in non-district play this season.

VOLLEYBALL RAIDS TAFT TEAMS

The Clark Cougar varsity, junior varsity and freshman teams swept the Taft Raiders in volleyball action in the first district games of the season. The Clark varsity, ranked #8 in the city, plundered the Raiders points, winning 25-13, 25-11 and 25-8. Jenn Garrett registered 18 kills, Nicole Rehm had 14 digs and Abby Glosup provided 30 assists. Alyssa Pruett struck 4 aces into the Taft interior.
The win is the Cougars first district win of the season. They now travel to the prestigious Pearland/Nike tournament for the weekend.

OUTSTANDING!

The Clark Cougars volleyball team made Clark, Texas proud, playing in the championship game of the NISD tournament. Playing 6 games in a 36 hour period, the Cougars came home with the 2nd place trophy and two individual honors.
Clark defeated MacArthur, Alice, Antonian, Round Rock and Warren in the tournament which also featured several other area teams, including many NISD teams. The championship game was a rematch with Antonian. Marcella Arellano and Jenn Garrett were named to the All Tournament team.
The Cougars went into the final game on a seven game win streak and are now 7-1 on the season. With their best starting record in recent history, the Cougars look to add to their wins this week, taking on Alamo Heights and Johnson. Johnson is 10-1 and placed 2nd in the Westwood tournament this weekend. Clark then crosses the border to play in the NEISD tournament next weekend.
Congratulations Cougars and keep up the good hustle and hard work.
VOLLEYBALL STARTS SEASON

The Clark Cougar volleyball team begins the 2011-2012 varsity season with a match against Churchill tomorrow night.
Seniors Marcella Arellano and Jenn Garrett, named to the Express News Players to Watch list, lead a talented team this season.
Cougar fans can show up at Blossom at 7:00 to cheer them on against the Chargers in the traditional season opening match.

ALL AREA/DISTRICT TEAMS ANNOUNCED

The Express News released the All Area and All District teams for football, volleyball and cross country for the 2010 season. Congratulations to Marcella Arellano, who received All Area and All District honors while teammates Jenn Garrett, and Kayci Murphy were selected to the All-District 27-5A teams. Marcella and Jenn were unanimous decisions.. Second teamers included Shelby MacKenzie and Nicole Rehm.
Clark also stood out among cross country runners, with Austin Wells and Glynnis Meade making the All Area teams.

COUGARS FALL SHORT

The Clark volleyball team fought back from a 2-0 deficit in Tuesday’s district championship game to take the third game and then threatened to take the match to five games, but fell just short, losing 25-20 in the 4th. Marcella Arellano and Jenn Garrett led the work at the net with 10 kills each. Arellano added 17 digs to that and Nicole Rehm had 16 more. Leading with assists were Kayci Murphy with 17 and Adriana Christian with 12.
The loss means the Cougars face Brandeis on Friday at 6:00pm at Paul Taylor to determine the 2nd place team in district leading into the playoffs. Lots of great volleyball ahead for Clark!

VOLLEYBALL EXTENDS WINNING STREAK

The Clark volleyball team rolled over Taft 3-0 on Wednesday night at Paul Taylor, bringing their win streak to 7 straight matches. The Cougars won 25-8, 25-17, 25-17 with 12 kills from Marcella Arellano and 11 from Jenn Garrett. Kayci Murphy added 16 assists and Adriana Christian had 13 while E’sjah Booker came up with 12 digs and Nicole Rehm added 10 more.
With the win Clark stays tied for first place in district along with O’Connor and Brandeis. Next up is Marshall on Friday in the O’Connor gym at 5:30. Show up and support your Cougars!
VOLLEYBALL ENTERS E-N RANKINGS

COUGARS WIN BIG

The Clark Cougars volleyball team defeated the O’Connor Panthers 3-2 in action at Paul Taylor. It was the first time a Clark volleyball team has even won a single set against the Panthers since 2006 and the first time Clark has won a game against O’Connor since ?. The win puts the district race into a three-way tie for first between the Cougars, the “brandies” and the Panthers.
Outstanding play came from several Cougars, including Kayci Murphy, Marcella Arellano, E’sjah Booker, Jennifer Garrett, Nicole Rehm, Adriana Christian and Shelby MacKenzie.
THAT’S WHAT WE’RE TALKING ABOUT! Great job, ladies!
