The Northside Suburban Softball All Stars, otherwise known as World Champions, were greeted by a crowd of supporters at Clark on Sunday night on their return from the World Series in Delaware. The Northside team, composed of seven Clark Cougar softball players, won the championship over a team from New York on Saturday in a game televised on ESPN.  The girls represented the Southwest USA and had a remarkable 17-0 run through the All Star competition. The Northside Suburban Little League Softball All Stars are on top of the world. The team, featuring seven Clark Cougars, won the Senior Softball World Series on Saturday in Delaware and they did live on ESPN2.  Representing the Southwest USA the girls beat the USA East team from New York 3-1, breaking a 1-1 tie in the top of the 7th inning.  Read more in the Express-News.

Northside Suburban All Stars

Northside Suburban, led by a host of Clark Cougars, remains undefeated at the Senior Softball World Series in Delaware. Playing as the USA Southwest team, the Northside girls won a spot in the tournament semi-finals with an 8-0 thrashing of Tucson, Arizona – the USA West team – on Thursday. Clark pitchers Henessey Soto and Megan Aragones made sure Tucson didn’t get a single run and only two hits. Soto, Aragones and Cougar teammates Alex Losoya, Britney Ramos and Felicia Sanchez also brought in the runs. Get the details in the Express News.

A win Friday night against South Bend, Indiana means a spot in the championship game Saturday morning on ESPN2 at 10 a.m.

The Northside Suburban Senior Softball All-Stars remain undefeated at the World Series in Delaware following a nailbiter of a win over Puerto Rico on Tuesday. Clark pitcher Henessey Soto used her bat to help start a rally in the 4th inning as she and a teammate drove in runs to tighten what was a three run deficit to 4-3. Then in the 6th inning Clark Cougar Felicia Sanchez hit an in the park home run to take a 6-4 lead and the win.
Tucson, Arizona is next on the list for the Northside team. That game will be Thursday at 4:30.
The All-Star team includes 7 Clark softball players.

Chalk up victory #1 for the Northside Suburban All Stars at the Senior Softball World Series in Delaware thanks to some great Clark Cougar pitching and hitting. Henessey Soto was  solid  on the mound and Felicia Sanchez and Morgan Herrera provided some late game hitting to secure the 4-3 victory over Portsmouth, Virginia. Some familiar faces from Clark softball are lighting up the All Star field this summer. Felicia Sanchez, Morgan Biela, Megan Aragones, Morgan Herrera, Britney Ramos, Alex Losoya and Henessey Soto are part of the 2010 Northside Little League All-Stars.  They won the District 19 Title in San Antonio, the Section 3 Title in Uvalde, just recently won the State Title in Fort Worth, Texas and are now traveling to Alexandria, Louisiana  for the US Southwest Regionals.  They are repeating the record from last year; however, the girls don’t want to leave Louisiana without the title this year.  In 2009  they were one game from going to the Little League World Series. Expectations may be even higher this year. They have their eye on the US SW Title and a trip to Roxana, Delaware to the 2010 Little League World Series, Aug 8th-14th.

If you tune into www.espn977.com live radio THIS SATURDAY NIGHT AT 8PM, the girls will be playing their first game against New Mexico.  Other teams are East Texas (from Seguin), Colorado, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Mississippi.  Just check the website for the games.

There’s a roster full of Clark Cougars on the  2009 Texas State Champions in Senior League softball and the team is just one game away from the Senior League World Series.  The Champs have rolled through Divisional, Sectional and Regional playoffs and plan to make their last stop Sussex County, Delaware where they will compete for a world championship. The Cougars on the team include pitchers Henessey Soto and Megan Aragones, 1st baseman Felicia Sanchez, 2nd baseman Britney Ramos, 3rd baseman Megan Martinez and Centerfielder Dani Nash. All six girls played varsity softball for Clark in the spring. They are joined on the team by 3 players who will be entering Clark this fall. Congratulations to a couple of Clark softball players who are playing summer ball.  Felicia Sanchez and her Northside Little League Senior All Stars won the District 19 title and are competing in Ft. Worth for the regional title.  Christina Rodriquez, a 2009 graduate, is playing for the Texas Challengers Gold, the first San Antonio team ever to qualify as an American Softball Association Gold Team.  They will be competing in a national tournament beginning August 1st.

Both girls played on the 2009 Clark Cougar team, which reached the playoffs and made it to the 2nd round of the playoffs for the first time in school history.  Good Luck ladies!

It took 11 innings, but the Clark softball team made it count as they beat the Warren Warriors 4-3.  Henessey Soto was on the mound for the Cougars to take the win. Sophomore Felicia Sanchez came up big with 3 hits to help drive in the runs.
