Austin Wells keeps the pace

The Varsity Cross Country teams headed north in the wee hours of the morning to complete in the McNeil Invitational.  Opting for the Gold division, the girls stretched themselves by running a 5k (3.1 miles) instead of their usual 2 miles.  Placing 17th overall in a field of 115 runners was Glynnis Meade, with a speedy time of 19:27.  Next in for Clark in 24th place was Shantel Swift (19:45), followed by Stacey Wilkens (22:04), Katherine Ritchie (22:22), Toria Seifert (22:27), and Mel Schwartz (22:28).

Gold division for the boys was also a 5k.  David Scorcelletti was first in for the Cougars in a quick 16:13 for 29th place out of 188 runners.  Jose Sierra (16:30),  Austin Wells (16:49), James Leopold (17:07), Ryan Pavlich (17:24), Jim Wells (18:28), and John Bodkin (18:46) all finished strong, setting personal records for this distance.
Next Saturday we’ll toe the line with some of our District competition at an NISD hosted meet at Hardin Athletic Complex.  The fun begins at 8am – join us!  For pictures of this and all our meets, see http://clarkcrosscountry2009.shutterfly.com/
