CLARK SOFTBALL PLAYERS FIND SUMMER SUCCESS

by on Jul.30, 2010, under Softball

Some familiar faces from Clark softball are lighting up the All Star field this summer. Felicia Sanchez, Morgan Biela, Megan Aragones, Morgan Herrera, Britney Ramos, Alex Losoya and Henessey Soto are part of the 2010 Northside Little League All-Stars.  They won the District 19 Title in San Antonio, the Section 3 Title in Uvalde, just recently won the State Title in Fort Worth, Texas and are now traveling to Alexandria, Louisiana  for the US Southwest Regionals.  They are repeating the record from last year; however, the girls don’t want to leave Louisiana without the title this year.  In 2009  they were one game from going to the Little League World Series. Expectations may be even higher this year. They have their eye on the US SW Title and a trip to Roxana, Delaware to the 2010 Little League World Series, Aug 8th-14th.

If you tune into www.espn977.com live radio THIS SATURDAY NIGHT AT 8PM, the girls will be playing their first game against New Mexico.  Other teams are East Texas (from Seguin), Colorado, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Mississippi.  Just check the website for the games.

There’s another website the girls are using for fundraising – looking for both corporate and personal donations.  AND IF BY CHANCE they do not make it out of this level, 100% of the funds will be donated to Northside Suburban Little League.  http://www.yourcause.com/Group.aspx?GroupID=6618 .

    Good luck girls!

    BOYS SOCCER RULE’S

by on Jul.15, 2010, under Soccer

    New boys soccer coach

    Head Coach Walter Rule

Walter Rule has been named the head coach of boys soccer at Clark following the departure of Coach Eddie Ashley.

Ashley coached this past year’s team to a Clark record 21-2-2 and one win shy of an appearance in the state tournament.  It was the farthest a Clark boys soccer team has ever advanced in the playoffs.  Ashley resigned to take an Assistant Principal position at Boerne’s Champion High School.

Coach Rule moves over from coaching the girl’s team for the past two seasons.  Previous to Clark, Rule coached the boys team at Reagan, where he won a state championship in 2002 and his 2004 team also played in the state championship game.  He continues to coach at the club level as well and played professionally with Atlas of Mexico for two years following a successful college career, where he was an All-American place kicker for the Texas A&I (now A&M-Kingsville) Javelinas.

The new girls coach is Diana Driggers.  She has been Head Coach at both Holmes and Providence High Schools. For three years, Diana was Head Coach at Texas Lutheran University. Driggers played at MacArthur High School and advanced to the South Texas State Team twice. She played for the University of Incarnate Word and obtained the distinction of Nationally Ranked Goalkeeper (NAIA). Diana is also the AAYSA Referee Commissioner and was a Professional Referee for the Women’s Professional League.

Congratulations to Coach Ashley in his new position and good luck and congrats to Coach Rule and Driggers. AND GO COOGS!

    NISD Athletic Director

    Clark Cougar now top dog

Congratulations to Clark principal Stan Laing who has been named as the new Executive Athletic Director at Northside ISD.  Laing, who previously coached and taught for 16 years before crossing into administrative positions, fits the trend of coaches turned principals turned district athletic directors at NISD.  Laing will join former Clark coaches Kirby Jamison and Kevin Hamilton at the district office.  No word on who will be the new principal at Clark.

Congratulations and you will be missed! (But at least you’re not that far away…)
