GUCCI CUP A HEARTBREAKER

by on Apr.03, 2011, under Soccer

Clark Soccer '11

Dubbed the “Gucci Cup” by creative Cougar fans, the boys soccer showdown between Clark and Churchill  was a physical match decided by a sudden death shoot out. The Cougars struck early in the first half of regulation on a shot by Johnny Lawson and while Clark dominated the ball in the half, Churchill was able to get a long blast into the net before halftime. Those would be the only goals scored through regulation and the two 10-minute overtime periods. The resulting shoot out started well for Clark as they led 3-1, but at the end of the 5 man penalty kick rotation the teams were tied 3-3. The sudden death portion of the shoot out gave Churchill a 4-3 victory.

Clark, Texas showed up to support the team in large numbers and packed the stadium. It was a great season that ended too soon.  Congratulation to the seniors who took Clark soccer to new levels and good luck!
