WATER POLO HAS 3 ALL STATE COUGARS

by on Apr.19, 2011, under Water Polo

The state water polo tournament (TISCA) in The Woodlands didn’t go Clark’s way last weekend, but both the boys and girls teams placed players on the All State roster. Clark’s boys had one loss and one win during the tournament –  that win, over Plano West, would be the only victory for any of the South Texas teams at the tournament (Clark, Brandeis, Alamo Heights, Marshall).  The Clark girls had one loss and one tie against Flower Mound. State Champions were Ross Sterling HS in Houston for the boys and for the girls it was Tomball HS.

Named  All State Honorable Mention for the girls was Jessica Rourke and for the boys Derek Poirer and Jeremy Kustoff.

Congratulations on a great season!

by on Apr.15, 2011, under Baseball

Clark baseball enjoys big win

Thursday night, Clark defeated Stevens 6-2 to remain in 1st place in District and is now assured of at least a share of the District Championship. The Falcons jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning – but those were the last runs that Clark allowed.  In the 2nd inning, Clark bats responded.  Matt Cohen started off the inning with a single.  Chris Werland moved Cohen to 2nd on a sacrifice bunt.  Robert Martin stepped into the batters box and with a 1 ball, 2 strike count, hit a home run over the left field fence – scoring himself and Cohen.  Next up was Ed Moore who hit a blooper between the pitcher and 2nd baseman and he beat out the throw to 1st base.   (continue reading…)

POWDER PUFF ’11 – SENIORS VICTORIOUS; CHEERLEADERS STILL UGLY

by on Apr.11, 2011, under Football

Girls just want to have fun

The Senior girls dominated the Juniors in this year’s annual Powder Puff game, three TD’s to one.  And despite all their efforts, the cheerleaders for this year still needed to shave and should not consider careers in high fashion. And get a tan.

Oh, and the 2011 varsity football schedule is posted on the calendar at the right.

Good luck SENIORS!

by on Apr.08, 2011, under Baseball

Clark Baseball picked up its 11th District win of the season on Friday beating Jay 14-9.  The game got off to a rough start with Clark errors and a bases loaded grand slam in the top of the 3rd inning leaving Clark facing an 8-0 deficit.  Clark slowly began to battle back, scoring 3 runs in the 3rd inning and 2 runs in the 4th.  But Clark really woke up in the bottom of the 6th inning – recording 9 runs to take the lead.  Starting on the mound for the Cougars was Chad Dullnig, who pitched 2 2/3 innings.  Chris Werland came in to bring the 3rd inning to a close and pitched the 4th-6th inning, giving up only 1 run.  Matt Cohen came in to close the game  in the top of the 7th inning and got 3 quick outs.  Clark had a total of 15 hits for the game.  Notables: Jason Cervantes went 4-4, with a 2-run home run.  Hunter McFall, Braden Mattson, Werland, and Robert Martin each had 2 hits, with Dullnig, Cohen, and Ryan Skowronski with one hit each.
