SPOILER ALERT
by Fan4Clark on Apr.27, 2012, under Baseball
The only thing better than going undefeated in a season is beating your rival who has that chance. The Clark Cougars varsity baseball team accepted that role and played it well as they beat previously undefeated O’Connor 9-8 in the final game of the season.
Things didn’t look too good by the end of the 2nd inning, behind by 6. In the 3rd inning, however, Clark bats started heating up with three runs. Another hitting drought left Clark behind 8-3 after five innings. And that’s when things got interesting. The Cougars put two runs across the plate in the 6th and loaded the bases. John Henderson drove a triple to the fence tying the game 8-8. The final regular inning went scoreless. In the 8th inning, Chad Dullnig was hit by pitch and moved around the bases with steals from pass balls. With Dullnig on third, Hayden Brown ripped a single and scored Dullnig putting Clark up 9-8 as Cougar fielding and pitching took over to secure the win.
Clark ends the regular season in a tie for third place in District 27-5A, headed to the playoffs (TBA).

JUNIORS STUN SENIORS IN POWDER PUFF
by Fan4Clark on Apr.26, 2012, under Football
The Junior girls sped past the Senior girls in the annual Powder Puff game this year, benefitting Project Graduation, three TDs to two. The Juniors took an early two touchdown lead, including a 55 yard sprint to the end zone from Sara Flournoy on the 2nd play of the game. The Seniors kept it close after a slow start but could not overcome the Junior’s speed.
Seniors had won the previous two years. And – let’s say it all together – the cheerleaders were still ugly.
