Clark faced district rival Brandeis in a battle between undefeateds and Clark emerged with an 8-7 win, bringing their district record to 3-0. Brandeis started off with a 2-run home run in the first, but that’s all they would get in the first inning. Brandeis ace Steven Keenum was on the mound, but Clark batters quickly took control with the first 5 reaching base on 2 walks and 3 hits. In the first inning, Clark batted around the line-up, had 5 hits and scored 6 runs – forcing Brandeis to replace their starting pitcher. For the game, Clark had 11 hits – with everyone in the line-up getting on base at least once. On the mound for Clark was Trevor Settles (Jr) who pitched 5 and 1/3 innings, with 6 strike-outs and no walks. Helping him out was stellar Cougar defense including 2 double plays made by McFall, Cervantes & Dullnig, then Chris Werland with two outs at 3rd, Ryan Skowronski with 2 outs in right field and finally Robert Martin’s catch in left field putting damper on the Brandeis come back. Matt Cohen took the mound during the 6th inning recording 2 strike outs, 3 outs, and one hit – securing the win for the team. It was a great win for the Cougars who are now 3-0 in District play. Next up is Jay this Friday, March 11 at 7:30pm at NS #1. Come cheer on your Cougar Baseball Team!
