The men’s varsity soccer team came out fighting against the #2 Lee Volunteers but the ball didn’t bounce their way. The result was a 2-0 loss in the area playoff round. It was an outstanding effort by the Cougars.  Congratulations on a great season and a hard fought game.

SOCCER SEND OFF FOR LADY COOGS

OK, Clark fans, here’s your chance to step up.  The #7 in the city Clark Cougars will be taking on the #2 in the nation Reagan Rattlers Friday for the Area playoff title.  The team is leaving Clark at 4:45, so you’re invited to line the driveway going out of Clark. Meet in the parking lot, at 4:35, near the team soccer signs/bus loop, and bring posters, banners and fans!  Come show your support for this awesome team and group of young ladies! Spread the word about sendoff.

Then be sure to go to the game at 7:00pm. The game is at Mata Stadium – 1922 S General McMullen Dr/78226.

While ClarkCougarSports.com appreciates the times that someone at the Express News recognizes Clark High School and their athletes and readily reports such rare events, is there a bias against the school in Clark, Texas?  Probably not but here’s an interesting one – in the final boys soccer rankings Clark is not ranked but Highlands High School is #10.  Highlands finished 3rd in their district BEHIND second place Corpus Christi King – who Clark WHIPPED 4-0.  We’re just saying…

Clark Cougar Soccer wins again

Both the boy’s and girl’s Clark Cougar soccer teams advance to the second round of playoffs with wins over Corpus Christi King.  The men took care of business first, pasting the ponies with a 4-0 defeat.  Following the men’s game at Farris, the ladies had an early goal in each half to secure the win.  Great job, Cougars!

Cougars in Playoffs

The Clark boy’s soccer team opens the playoffs with a bi-district match up against Corpus Christi King on Monday, March 23rd at 5:00 pm at Farris Stadium. The King Mustangs have a record of 13-5-2. The winner advances to play the winner of the Lee – Austin Akins game.

The Cougars closed out district play on a six game win streak. GO COOGS!

Wise takes control

Clark’s 7th ranked girl’s soccer team will host Corpus Christi King at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 23, at Farris Stadium. The game marks the bi-district round of the 2009 playoffs. The winner will face the winner of the Bastrop – Reagan game, also set for early next week.

The Cougars will warm up for the opening round with a scrimmage against New Braunfels on Friday at 5:00 p.m. at the Northside soccer fields.

The men’s varsity soccer Cougars pasted the Holmes Huskies in the final regular season game 7-0.  Francisco Garza pulled a hat trick, Placide Buduri scored two, and Roger Trevino and Esteban Rodriguez each had a goal in the win.  Next up, playoffs.  Congratulations!

Bekah Richards gets hat trick

In their last regular season game, seniors Shelby Henderson, Shelby Wise, Brianna Tammaro, Rebekah Richards, Sarah Klenke, Leslie Pool and manager Brad Winer helped lead the Cougars to a 9-0 blowout over Holmes.  Gabrielle Santorio, Leslie Pool, Sarah Klenke, Brianna Tammaro, and Krista Maples scored goals as well as a rare hat trick by Rebekah Richards.  Amy Ross started in goal and Macy Ellis played goalie in the second half.  Next stop for the ladies –  playoffs!!  Congratulations!

Amy Ross defends her goal

The Clark Cougars ladies soccer team moved up the ladder this week to #7 in the Express News high school rankings. Gabrielle Santorio was also mentioned for her 17 goals and 15 assists and Amy Ross received recognition for her 12 shutouts in the goal and goals against average, one of the best in the city.
