COUGARS SPLIT AT LONE STAR

by on Dec.06, 2010, under Basketball

Palacios and Cougars looking good

The boys varsity basketball team won twice but also came up short twice in the weekend’s Lone Star Tournament.  The Cougars began the weekend with a win over Wagner, 64-53.  Losses to Lewisville (49-52) and #10 in Texas Kingwood (37-48) were sandwiched in between the final game of the weekend where Clark defeated #24 in Texas Laredo United 45-43 in a nail-biter.  Down in the first half, the Cougars turned it around in the second half for the victory.

The boys are now 8-5 and take on Sequin next.  Jacob Palacios received some extra accolades from here.

COUGARS TAKE RATTLERS TO BRINK

by on Nov.24, 2010, under Basketball

Jacob Palacios splits the Rattlers for two

The Clark Cougars boys basketball team took on the #5 in the state Reagan Rattlers but fell just shy of the upset, 50-52.  The Cougars, who looked sharp against the highly-rated team, stayed close through the first two quarters and even led at the end of three but a 3-point frenzy by Reagan’s Max Yon put the Cougars down by 10 with six minutes left in the game.  With the score 51-41 in favor of the Rattlers, Jacob Palacios sunk a 3-point shot and made a crucial free throw to pull the Cougars within one with seconds left in the game. Reagan converted on a free throw on the other end and the Cougars last chance three pointer rimmed out and Reagan won the non-district contest.

The game was a great early test for the Cougars and based on the outcome, it looks to be another exciting year for players and fans.
