SOFTBALL LOSES CLOSE ONE

The 9th ranked Clark softball team started the season Tuesday by losing a close one 3-2 to 10th ranked Harlandale. Henessey Soto pitched with relief from Megan Aragones in the 4th inning. Megan Martinez got two key hits for the Cougars and freshman catcher Alex Losoya had a double .
SOFTBALL CHAMPS SHOWCASE COUGARS

There’s a roster full of Clark Cougars on the 2009 Texas State Champions in Senior League softball and the team is just one game away from the Senior League World Series. The Champs have rolled through Divisional, Sectional and Regional playoffs and plan to make their last stop Sussex County, Delaware where they will compete for a world championship. The Cougars on the team include pitchers Henessey Soto and Megan Aragones, 1st baseman Felicia Sanchez, 2nd baseman Britney Ramos, 3rd baseman Megan Martinez and Centerfielder Dani Nash. All six girls played varsity softball for Clark in the spring. They are joined on the team by 3 players who will be entering Clark this fall. SOFTBALL SUCCESS

Congratulations to a couple of Clark softball players who are playing summer ball. Felicia Sanchez and her Northside Little League Senior All Stars won the District 19 title and are competing in Ft. Worth for the regional title. Christina Rodriquez, a 2009 graduate, is playing for the Texas Challengers Gold, the first San Antonio team ever to qualify as an American Softball Association Gold Team. They will be competing in a national tournament beginning August 1st.
Both girls played on the 2009 Clark Cougar team, which reached the playoffs and made it to the 2nd round of the playoffs for the first time in school history. Good Luck ladies!
SPRING ATHLETES HONORED

The area’s best in spring sports as named by the Express News includes some outstanding athletes from Clark as do the All District squads for softball and baseball.
In softball, Christina Rodriguez made the paper’s Super Team. In her senior season the Clark catcher hit .485 and was a unanimous All District selection, she will take her game to the next level at St. Mary’s University next year. Rodriguez was also selected to the Class 5A team for the area. Other softball players named to the 1st team All-District squad are Megan Aragones and Henessey Soto, both sophomore pitchers. On the All-District 2nd team is freshman Britney Ramos, sophomore Megan Martinez and junior Rochelle Nash.
In baseball, Cougar pitcher Carl O’Neal was named to the Class 5A team and was a unanimous selection for the 28-5A 1st team All-District squad. O’Neal will play ball at St. Mary’s University next year. Also named 1st Team All District are senior Joseph Ybarra and sophomore Jason Cervantes – both unanimous selections, senior Trey Doebbler and sophomore catcher Braden Mattson. Making All-District 2nd team is junior pitcher Vince Salazar.
In golf, junior Hunter Gathright was named to the All-Area team.

SOFTBALL SEASON ENDS

After advancing to the second round of the playoffs for the first time in school history, the Clark softball team lost to Austin Westlake 6-0 on Friday at NorthEast Field.

SOFTBALL SEND OFF

It’s Round Two of the playoffs and Clark Cougar family and fans are asked to be at the school softball field at 5:15 on Friday to show support as the Softball team heads out to beat Westlake. The one game playoff will be at Northeast Field West on Judson Road about 3 miles inside Loop 1604. Game time is 7:00. The meeting place for the send off at Clark is the parking lot behind Lockehill Elementary and University Methodist Church. GO COOGS!
SOFTBALL: CLARK vs WESTLAKE

The Cougars move into the second round of the playoffs for the first time in school history on Friday, May 15th against Westlake. While Clark was busy defeating Corpus Christi King over the weekend, the Chaps had a couple of one run wins over New Braunfels to advance. For Westlake, this is just the second time in school history to advance to the second round of the softball playoffs. The one game Region IV Area playoff will be held at the North East Softball Complex at 14800 Judson Road — three miles inside Loop 1604 at Wood Middle School — on the West Field.

COUGAR SOFTBALL WINS TO ADVANCE

Up 1-0 in a best of three series, the Lady Cougars lost the 2nd game of the series 5-0, forcing a third game against Corpus Christi King to determine who advances to the next round. In game three, the Cougars would not be denied, winning 6-3 in nine innings advancing to the second round. It is only the second time Clark has made the playoffs and the first time in school history that the Cougars have advanced to the 2nd round. Congratulations, ladies and keep it up.
SOFTBALL TAKES GAME ONE

The Clark softball team won the first game in a best of three playoff series with Corpus Christi King on Friday. Final score was 1-0 with pitcher Henessey Soto on the mound for the Cougars. Game two gets underway Saturday at 2:00 at Cabaniss Field in Corpus Christi with game three to follow at 4:00pm, if necessary.
SOFTBALL SEND OFF – THE PLAYOFFS BEGIN!

Clark Softball heads into the playoffs Friday night, May 8th, at 6:00 p.m. at Northside Field when they take on Corpus Christi King. The action shifts to Cabaniss Field in Corpus Christi on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. with Game 3 (if necessary) scheduled for 4:00.
Cougar fans have a great opportunity to show support for the team on Saturday morning with a Send Off at 9:10 a.m. Everyone is asked to meet by the softball fields (behind Lockehill Elementary and University Methodist Church) and bring your signs and lots of noise to wish them luck as they load the buses and head to Corpus Christi. GOOD LUCK LADIES!
