No rain this year, so the Cougars were able to finish the NEISD tennis tournament and snag sixth place. Clark beat Johnson this morning, but fell to a tough Harlingen South team in the afternoon.
One Win, One Loss, No Rain

A win and a loss but no precipitation in the perennially rained out NEISD tennis tournament so far this weekend. The Coogs play again today at McFarlin tennis center, weather permitting, of course.
Tennis Rolls Over Warren and Marshall

A full day of tennis at NTC today, with the Coogs handily defeating District opponents Warren and Marshall. Both victories were decisive: a birthday present for junior Karsten Lowe!
Tennis Beats Brandeis

Cougar tennis easily handled Brandeis in its first district team tennis match up. Clark’s biggest obstacles were the weather and the power, or rather sudden lack thereof. The games started late due to the unexpected rainy weather, and then were interrupted toward the end of play when the lights at NTC abruptly went off. The Cougars kept their cool and played on for a late night win.
Best Ever Finish

Clark varsity tennis had their best finish ever in the NISD Gold tournament, capturing fourth place at Northside Tennis Center today. The Coogs lost to New Braunfels in the morning, then lost a close one to Houston’s Seven Lakes in the race for third place.
Next up: the NISD Silver Tourney to be held August 29th and 30th.
Day of Victories for Tennis

Varsity tennis racked up two victories in the first day of the NISD Gold Tournament, defeating SA’s Churchill and Houston’s Cypress Ranch. The tournament continues tomorrow at the Northside Tennis Complex as Clark meets one of its most formidable foes, perennial state champion New Braunfels.

Football and track coach Bobby Allen has been chosen to be an extra in the film “My All American,” which is being shot largely here in San Antonio. The film is about the too short life of Freddie Steinmark, who was diagnosed with bone cancer six days after helping the Texas Longhorns beat the Arkansas Razorbacks in 1969 when the two teams were ranked number one and number two respectively. Coach Allen will play an Arkansas coach in the picture.
