COUGARS RECORD SEASON BESTS

The last track meet before District, held at Judson on Thursday, April 8th, resulted in several season best (SB) performances. For the Girls, Luisa Garza was 3rd in the 100m dash (12:53 – SB), Glynnis Meade 2nd in the 3200m (12:12.6), and Shantel Swift was 2nd in the Long Jump (17′ 4″) and the Triple Jump (36′ 9″ – SB). The Girls 4x100m Relay team topped the field in 48.2, and the 4x400m Relay team was 6th in 4:07 (SB).
For the Boys, Ryan Jones was 5th in the 100m dash (10:09), Hayden Greenbauer 1st in the 110m Hurdles (14:52), Joe Vasquez 5th in the 200m Dash (22:13), Sam Perez 3rd in the 400m Dash (50.89 SB), David Scorcelletti 3rd (4:39.2- SB) and Austin Wells 5th (4:43.11 SB) in the 1600m Run, . The 4x100m Relay team was 4th in 42.5 (SB), the 4x200m Relay team 2nd in 1:28.8 (SB) and the 4x400m Relay team 5th in 3:27.2 (SB).
COUGAR BASEBALL HITS JAY

Clark baseball tightened its hold on third place and a playoff spot in 28-5A with a 12-2 win over Jay. Pitcher Vincent Salazar gets the win for the Cougars. Braden Mattson and Jimmy Wells both contributed homeruns and Clark had 14 hits overall.
The Cougars take on O’Connor at 4:45 Tuesday.
SOFTBALL GETS BIG WIN

The Clark softball team struck in the last two innings of their game against O’Connor to take a 4-0 win. The Cougars continue their strong season with a solid 10-3 district record and a 15-8 season record. Pitcher Henessey Soto gets the latest win.
Next up is Warren on Tuesday at 7:00. Only three district games remain in the season.

COUGAR TRACK AT TEXAS RELAYS AND SAISD

The Varsity Track Team was split this week, with the relay teams headed to Austin to participate in the Texas Relays on Friday/Saturday, and the rest taking part in the SAISD meet on Thursday, April 1st. Here in town, David Scorcelletti (10:08.14) and Glynnis Meade (12:21) both finished 4th in their respective 3200m races, and Jose Sierra was 6th in the 800m run (2:03.6).
Out of town, the relays gained valuable experience running against some incredible competition. None made the finals, but the Girls 4x200m relay team (Triniqua Collins, Shaneve Swift, Esjah Booker, Shantel Swift) ran a season best 1:43.93 (heat 2), and the 4x100m relay team (Louisa Garza, Shaneve, Esjah and Shantel) placed 29th out of 82 teams in 43:43 (heat 6). The Boys 4x200m team (Travis Cooke, Hayden Greenbauer, Ryan Jones, Joe Vasquez) were running well and then dropped the baton (heat 1), and the same team completed the 4x100m relay in 43:43 (heat 4). CLARK SOFTBALL BEATS STEVENS

Clark softball took care of business in their game against Stevens on Tuesday with a 5-2 win. Pitcher Henessey Soto gets the win as the Cougars up their district record to 7-3 and hang on to 3rd place in the 28-5A standings. Clark is 12-8 on the season. Next up is Marshall at 5:00 on Thursday at Northside field.
CLARK BLASTS BRANDEIS

The bats were hot for Clark Tuesday night at Northside field as the Cougars opened the second half of district play with a 9-1 pounding of Brandeis. The Coogs had 12 hits including a solo homerun by Braden Mattson and a triple from Jim Wells. Vincent Salazar pitched a complete game with 13 strikeouts to take the win.
This brings the Cougars district record to 7-2 and the season record to 11-8. They are tied for second place in 28-5A with Stevens and will play the Falcons on Thursday afternoon at 4:45 at Northside.
COUGARS TRACK RESULTS FROM ALAMO RELAYS

The Cougar Track Team didn’t have far to go as they took part in NISD’s Alamo Relays at Gus stadium on Saturday, March 27th. The Varsity Boys tied for 4th place out of 15 teams, and the Girls finished 5th out of 17 teams. Leading the way for the Girls was Shaneve Swift’s 1st place in the 400m Dash (56.63), followed by 2nd place for Shantel Swift in the 200m Dash (25.63), 2nd place for the 4x200m Relay team (Triniqua Collins, Shantel, Esjah Booker, Louisa Garza – 1:44.4), 3rd place for the 4x100m Relay team (Louisa, Shaneve, Esjah, Shantel), and 5th place for Glynnis Meade in the 3200m Run (12:06.8). The Boys 4x200m Relay ran away with 1st place in 1:30.5 (Travis Cooke, Ryan Jones, Hayden Greenbauer, Joe Vasquez) after placing 3rd for the 4x100m relay (42.88). Sam Perez pulled off a comeback in the final straightaway to finish 2nd in the 800m run (1:58.9), and Hayden was 2nd in the 110m Hurdles (14.14). JV SOFTBALL HURTS HUSKIES

Good defense and solid hitting catapult the JV softball team over the Holmes Huskies for a 11-5 win. Kat Boyd hit for two singles, 1 RBI, and recorded two stolen bases. Alexis Craig had a standing double with three RBI’s and threw out a runner on second base. Flor Longoria hit a thunder shot to left field with a standing triple and also had a single with two RBI’s and one stolen base. Gabby Aguilar recorded two singles, one double and one RBI. Meredith Beltran had a standing double, a standing triple, and five RBI’s. Alexis Gliedt caught a ball hit to left field to end a rally by the Huskies. Celina Salas recorded a single. Alexia Cantu also, hit for a single. Kim Regino Hit a single and recorded four strike outs. Nicole Colin had a single with two stolen bases and made a double play at the end to seal the victory for the Cougars. The JV team is 5-3 for the season. Next for the Lady Cougars; Brandeis at Clark, Saturday at 10:00 am. Wonderful job ladies!

SOFTBALL HOLDS OFF HOLMES

The Clark softball team won a close one against Holmes on Tuesday. Final score 1-0 with pitcher Megan Aragones picking up the win.
The Cougars are 10-7 overall and 5-3 in district so far. The second half of the district season begins on Friday when Clark takes on Brandeis at 7pm at Northside.
BASEBALL WINS A NAILBITER

Clark baseball edged Taft 7-6 on Tuesday at Northside Field. Clark’s Vincent Salazar was the winning pitcher. The Cougars finished strong with 4 runs coming in the last two innings and they held off Taft, which came up with 3 runs in the 6th.
The win brings the Cougars season record to 8-8 and 5-2 in district play. Clark moves into 3rd place in the district standings.
