CLARK BASEBALL STARTS STRONG

The Clark Cougar Varsity Baseball team started District play with a 3-2 win over Taft.   The Cougars had 7 hits for 3 runs -Hunter McFall had 2 singles and scored 1 run, and Jason Cervantes and Trevor Settles each hit a double and scored.  Pitching for the win was Ryan Skowronski with 5 innings pitched, and Chris Werland and Trevor Settles pitched in relief to save the game.  This was a great start to district play.  Clark plays Seguin Thursday night at 5pm at NS # 2.  Clark JV Baseball also beat Taft, 8-2.  A great day to be a Clark Baseball player or fan!

Up next for the Cougars: the Northside ISD Tournament, this weekend.

CLARK SOFTBALL WARMS UP

The Clark softball team took part in the 64 team Bryan-College Station Softball Tournament and walked away with a 50-50 split. The Cougars defeated McKinney 5-3,  Magnolia 5-2 and Friendswood Clear Brook 8-1. They dropped games against Cedar Ridge, Conroe Oak Ridge and Eagle Pass.

The Cougars started the season losing a close one to Taft, 1-0,  in an early district game. They get a chance to rebound against Marshall on Tuesday the 22nd at Northside at 7:00pm, before heading to the East Central-Judson tournament.

CLARK GOLFERS TAKE TOURNEY

Congratulations to the Clark girls golf team which took first place in the SAISD Invitational Tournament over the weekend. Clark’s team, coached by David Creekmore, totaled 727 points in the 36 hole tourney, played at Mission Del Lago, Willow Springs.

Senior Morgan Burger tied for 3rd place individual with a score of 174, Grace Diana was 5th with 178, Kristen Dunn shot 185 to take 6th place and Marissa Fallis was in 8th place with a 193.

Way to go COOGS!

FIRST PITCH OF BASEBALL TODAY

The Clark Cougar Varsity Baseball team begins their season this afternoon with a scrimmage against South San HS at 4pm at South San. The Cougars return 11 varsity players this year and hopes are high once again for a winning season as the Cougars aim for a 5th straight playoff appearance! Come see the boys play! COUGARS COLLEGE BOUND

Student athletes playing at next level

Four Clark Cougar athletes committed to offers from universities far and near at a public ceremony at Clark High School.

Ryan Jones, son of Bill and Karen Jones, will be attending Harvard and playing football for the Crimson.  Jones starred at running back for the Cougars and was a top runner on the track team. Video

Glynnis Meade, daughter of Dave and Rose Meade, received a track scholarship from Dallas Baptist University where she will join the cross country team there. Video

Brianna Burtone, daughter of John and Jeanie Burtone, will attend school and play soccer locally at Our Lady of the Lake University.  Video

Krista Maples, daughter of Guy and Carmela Maples, will continue her soccer career at St. Mary’s University. Video

Earlier this year baseball players Braden Mattson (TCU) and Hunter McFall (Midland JC) received and accepted offers to play.

Congratulations, Cougars!  Good luck at college and we’ll be watching.

McFALL UP FOR COLLEGE BALL

Congratulations to Clark Cougar varsity baseball senior Hunter McFall who signed a letter of intent to play baseball for Midland Junior College beginning this fall. Hunter, who played JV his Freshman year, has started every game of his varsity career since he was a sophomore as an outfielder.  Last season he earned unanimous All District honors.

At his signing, Hunter thanked his parents, team and coaches for their support.  Clark Head Coach Aldo Velazquez told the team, “Hunter has worked very hard since joining Clark Baseball and proves that with hard work and dedication your dreams can come true and you can play baseball in college”.

Congratulations Hunter on a job well done and way to represent Clark!

Congratulations to Hunter McFall, a senior varsity baseball player, who has verbally committed to Midland Junior College to play there next year.  Hunter was a first team All-District Outfielder last year.  He is going to play second base for them.

ROZANSKI WINS “THURSDAY NIGHT LIGHTS” AWARD

Rozanski whips competition

Congratulations to Clark varsity football/baseball student athlete Peter Rozanski, who was named this year’s Thursday Night Light’s Scholar Athlete.  The award comes with a $5000 scholarship and an appearance on FOX 29’s Fox News First morning show with Ernie Zuniga and Monica Taylor.

Rozanski was one of twenty nominees, all from schools who appeared on the station’s Thursday Night Light football games this past season, including Brandeis, Churchill and Smithson Valley.  He also received a GIANT check presented by Six Flags Fiesta Texas representative Sydne Purvis.

Peter plans to attend Texas A&M University and major in civil engineering. He is the son of Tom and Kathy Rozanski.

Way to go, Peter!
