CLARK GOLF GETS WIN

The Clark boys golf team placed first in the Stevens Boys Invitational at the Golf Club of Texas on Saturday. Team total for Clark was 625, O’Connor was second with 631 and Houston Clear Lake was third with 642.

Top individuals for Clark were Andrew Gold who shot a 149 and J.T. Caldarola with a 151.

CLARK TRACK – RUNNING AND JUMPING

The Clark track team, led by junior Shantel Swift, sophomore Austin Wells and junior Brandon Yates, competed in the South San Relays on Friday. Swift placed first in the Triple Jump with 38-6 1/2 and she also placed first in the 200 with a time of 25.78. Overall the Clark girls placed 11th in the Relays.

The Clark boys came in 7th behind the long distance running of Wells. He placed second in the 1600 at 4:25.12 and second in the 3200 with 9:45.00. Also placing for the Cougars was Brandon Yates, who was third in the 200 at 22.31.

COUGARS WIN AGAIN IN BASEBALL

Clark Cougar baseball beat Taft 5-4 in the first game of today’s championship round at the NEISD Tournament. Chad Dullnig (Jr) took the mound for the Cougars and threw 4 2/3 innings – giving up only 2 hits. Timely clutch hitting by Braden Mattson and Chad Dullnig scored 2 runs, sacrifices by Dullnig and Jason Cervantes (Sr) scored another 2, and Dullnig’s final plate appearance scored the final and winning run of the game. Once again, Cougar defense shined – with critical plays being made in the field to keep the game close & secure the win. The Cougars will face either Austin Bowie or Churchill Chargers in the Tournament Championship Game at 4:15pm at Blossom Athletic Center today. Come out to support your Clark Cougar Baseball team!

COUGARS CONTINUE MERCY RULE

In the past four games, Clark Cougar varsity softball opponents have scored 12 runs.  The Cougars have blown out the scoreboard with 54 runs in that same span.  John Jay was the latest victim, pummeled by Clark 13-1.

The Cougars are 10-5 overall and own a 3-1 district record.  Want to see the girls in action?  Check the calendar on the right for game information.

COUGARS PLAY FOR CHAMPIONSHIP

The Clark Cougars beat the Highlands Owls 10-0 in 5 innings of play in Friday action at the NEISD tournament.  On the mound for the Cougars was junior Pete Sanchez who pitched all 5 innings, allowing 2 hits and no runs.  Once again the Cougar bats roared, with 9 hits in the game.  Clark defense made key outs for the win.

In the evening game, the Cougars matched up against the Churchill Chargers, and were victorious with a 4-2 win.  In a pitcher’s duel, Ryan Skowronski (Sr) got the win, with 5 & 2/3 innings pitched, recording 5 strike outs, 4 hits and only 2 runs.  It was a tightly contested game as both teams battled throughout the seven innings of play.  At the end, a timely hit by Robert Martin (Jr) scored Manny Menezes (Jr), pinch running for Matt Cohen, which helped to secure the lead.  Matt Cohen took the mound for the final 1 1/3 inning – saving the win for the Cougars.

The Cougars will face Taft Saturday morning at 9am at Blossom Athletic Center.  Go Coogs!

COUGARS BATS ROAR; TURN LIONS TO LAMBS

Clark Varsity Baseball defeated San Antonio Christian last night 13-2 in 5 innings of play.  Taking the mound for the Cougars was Trevor Settles (Jr), who pitched the entire game – giving up only 2 runs and recording 8 strike outs.  Cougar bats roared again with everyone hitting for 16 hits.  Braden Mattson (Sr) had 2 home runs in the game (5 RBIs), with his final home run taking the ball and the left fielder over the fence and securing an early win for the Cougars.

Next up in the tournament for Clark is Highlands today at noon at Blossom and then 6pm where they face Churchill.  Let’s play ball!

SOFTBALL CRUSHES BRANDEIS

The Clark softball team continued their district hitting streak with a 15-4 rout of the #5 ranked Brandeis broncos on Wednesday. The Cougars took a respectable 4-1 lead into the 5th inning and then exploded with 6 runs in the 5th and 5 more in the 6th inning – off a game total of 12 hits. COUGARS HIT RAMS HARD

Clark Cougar varsity baseball beat Marshall 8-6 last night for their second district win (2-0).  It was a great night to watch baseball as both teams battled at the plate, on the mound and in the field.  Clark came from behind in the 4th inning when their bats started to crack – with 10 hits for the game, 5 rbis, and 3 SACs!  Chris Werland came in to lead the Cougars to their win, pitching 4 innings and allowing only one Marshall run.  Trevor Settles closed on the mound (continue reading…)

RECOGNITION FOR RYAN

Jones plays it smart!

Clark football and track athlete Ryan Jones was recently awarded the “Scholar Athlete of the Week” on KSAT-12. Ryan is heading to Harvard to play football and become an Environmental Engineer. Congratulations Ryan, the Clark community is proud of you! Watch here.

SOFTBALL BATS ON FIRE

The Clark softball team evened its early district record to 1-1 with a 4th inning outburst on Tuesday night. The Cougars beat Marshall 17-0 and it was all over in the 4th when the Coogs scored 16 runs and ended the game.

Henessey Soto was on the mound for all four innings and gets the W.

The East Central Tournament is up next. GO COOGS!
