by envisionfilmvideo.com on Aug.11, 2010, under Baseball
Two Clark Cougar baseball players comitted to play baseball at the next level.
Braden Mattson, Class of 2011, has committed to TCU for the 2011-2012 school year. Mattson, who catches and swings a big bat for the Cougars, has been a member of the Clark Varsity Baseball team since his freshman year. Mattson also had Texas A&M – Corpus Christi and Tulane vying for his talents. Congratulations Braden!
Jonathon Fargnoli, who graduated in June, has signed to play baseball for Fordham University in the Bronx, NY. Fargnoli played JV Baseball (2007), Varsity Baseball 2008-2010, and was the starting second baseman for Clark’s 2009 & 2010 seasons. Good luck to Jon at Fordham-we’re sure they’ll enjoy your glove!

ALL STAR COUGARS AT BAT
by envisionfilmvideo.com on Jun.16, 2010, under Baseball
Two Clark Cougar baseball players have been selected to play in this year’s Jr./Sr. All Star game this coming Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at 7pm at the Blossom Athletic Center. The game highlights area athletes who have achieved success on the field and gives them a chance to showcase their talents for college coaches and recruiters, as well as play against-and with-some of the best in the city. The game format pits the Junior athletes vs. the Senior athletes. Last year Carl O’Neal, Clark ’09, showcased his pitching at the game.
This year, Clark has 2 Varsity Players who were invited to play in the game; Braden Mattson (Catcher) and Hunter McFall (OF/IF). They will be playing on the Junior team. This is quite an achievement for the players and gives them an opportunity to play with some of their regular season opponents, have a little fun, and hopefully have the Juniors come out on top (again) this year.
Both Braden & Hunter have tickets to sell for the game at the low price of $5 so please help to support area baseball as well as Clark baseball by purchasing your tickets from Braden & Hunter. You can find out more information at jimscout.com. Way to go Coogs!

On a night when the baseball team clinched a playoff spot and the softball team won their game giving them a playoff spot and the best ever season in Clark history, the Clark athletic community celebrated a year of great accomplishments. The annual Clark Athletic Booster Club Sports Banquet was a phenomenal success with accolades for players and coaches alike.
Highlights included a moment to recognize Coach Lloyd Alexander and his role in shaping a culture of winning in competition and in life, a parade of athletes and coaches that also included each player and teams successes and the awarding of $15,000 in scholarships to Clark seniors. The $15,000 was a new record for scholarships awarded by the Booster Club and was made possible by parents and their membership fees, cap/tshirt and etc. sales, ad sponsorships by advertisers and volunteers at concession duties and the ATT golf tournament.
The Booster Club has also given over $30,000 this year directly to the athletic department for their needs.
SASports.com’s Jay Tope emceed the event and as usual did an outstanding job.
