COUGAR BASEBALL POUNDS WARREN

It began with 3 runs in the top of the 1st inning as Cougar batting came alive and continued for 7 innings as the Clark Cougars defeated Warren 11-9. Sophomore Braden Mattson homered for the 2nd day in a row and pitcher Vincent Salazar went all 7 innings for the complete win.
COUGAR BATS QUIET AGAINST O’CONNOR

Braden Mattson and Trey Doebbler each homered but it wasn’t enough as the Clark Cougars fell to the O’Connor Panthers in varsity baseball, 6-3.

COUGAR BATS HEAT UP, BEAT RAMS

Down 3-2 in the 5th inning, the Clark Cougars battled back and beat Marshall in varsity baseball 4-3. Lead off hitter Jason Cervantes started the inning with a double, Trey Doebbler followed that with a triple to drive in the tying run and JoJo Ybarra finished off the Rams with a hit that sent Doebbler home. Ybarra also had a two run shot in the 1st inning. Pitcher Carl O’Neal went the distance for the complete game and win.
CLARK BASEBALL PLACES THIRD IN NEISD TOURNEY

The Cougars opened play in the Northeast District tournament with a 9-2 loss to Austin Bowie. Tyler Reinagel and Jimmy Wells handled the pitching duties. In the second game Clark beat Churchill 7-5 with Vincent Salazar and Ryan Skowronski on the mound. Against South San, the Cougars lost 7-4. Jimmy Wells, Trey Doebbler and Braden Mattson hit for the Cougars. In the last game to decide the third place finisher Clark defeated #3 ranked MacArthur 7-6. Pitcher Jason Cervantes got the win for the Cougars.
BASEBALL WINS AGAIN

In a District 28-5A game, Joseph Ybarra made sure the Cougars came away with a win. Hitting two home runs, he helped beat Stevens 3-2. Carl O’Neal pitched a complete game, going all seven innings.
SPRING ATHLETES TAKING CHARGE

Congratulations to several Clark Cougars mentioned in the March 2 edition of the Express-News. First, the Lady Coogs soccer team jumped back into the Top Ten. Gabrielle Santorio was also mentioned with her 16 goals and 13 assists, some of the highest in each category in the city. The team currently sits 3rd in the district standings with a big game against district leader O’Connor coming up next.
In track, Hayden Greenbauer is credited as one of the best in hurdles in the 110 and 300 meter classes. The boys 800 meter relay team and the 1600 meter relay team also have some of the top times in the city. On the ladies side, Shaneve Swift has the TOP time in the 400 meter dash in the city this year, and Glynnis Meade is in the top ten in the 1600m and the 3200m runs. The ladies 1600 meter relay team is also has the 3rd fastest time this year in all of San Antonio.
Finally, the Clark varsity baseball team currently sits at the top of District 28-5A standings, tied with others and an overall 3-2-1 record. The Clark softball team is also at the top of the early district race with an overall 8-4 record.
BATTERS SPLIT IN FINAL NISD TOURNEY GAMES

The Clark Cougar varsity baseball team ended the weekend with an overall 4-2 season record following the NISD tournament. The final day of the tournament the team split their games, beating Roosevelt 15-3 but losing to Clemens 3-4. The team resumes district play against Stevens and currently has a 1-0 district record.
COOGS SINK SOUTH SAN

The bats were humming again at the Northside Field this morning as the Clark Cougars defeated South San 10-8 in their second game of the round robin NISD tournament. The afternoon, however, wasn’t as kind as the Cougars lost to MacArthur 8-4. Hunter McFall and Trey Doebbler each hit home runs against the Brahmas.
COUGARS TIE BUT WIN

Seven runs, including a solo home run by sophomore Braden Mattson in the 4th inning, were not enough to beat Central Catholic in the NISD Tournament. The final score was 7-7, because of game time limit rules in the tournament. The Cougars, based on tournament rules, got the win. Several pitchers took the mound for Clark.
