From 7pm to 3pm, the Clark Cougar varsity volleyball team played 11 games of volleyball; 5 vs. Johnson, 2 vs. El Paso Eastwood in the NISD tournament as well as 3 vs. Round Rock in the same tournament.  Against Round Rock, the Cougars posted a win with a 25-11, 22-25, 25-21 match.  It was the first win against Round Rock in two years and evens the Cougars record to 2-2.  Clark will take on district rival Warren next for a morning game at Paul Taylor tomorrow.

Cougars win

The Clark Cougars volleyball team notched the first win of the season in the Northside tournament.  The El Paso Eastwood “Lady Troopers” were sub-super as Clark won both games by scores of 25-19 and 25-22.  The next game for the Cougars comes against Round Rock today at noon.

Casanova digs deep

The Clark Cougar varsity volleyball team started well but couldn’t hold on for a win against Johnson in volleyball.  Clark won  the first two games, 25-20.  In game two, the Cougars led by as much as 5 during the midpoint of the game but Johnson tied it all up at 17.  Clark then took control to win but the tables were turned in game three as Johnson outscored the Cougars, also by a score of 25-20.  (continue reading…)

Clark Cougar Football on the air

The Texas Sports Radio Network will once again broadcast Clark Cougar football this year online and over the air across the TSRN Network.  Mark Kusenberger leads the broadcast team and will keep track of the plays, stats and scores while you enjoy watching the action from the stands.  It’s also a great way for friends, grandparents and others who don’t live in San Antonio to catch your son’s action.

KSAT Instant Replay

Greg Simmons and the KSAT 12 sports crew recently previewed the 2009 varsity edition of the Clark Cougars football team.  Here’s a look.

In the opening game of the 2009 season for both schools, the Clark Cougars fell to Churchill three games to one.  Clark got into a hole early losing game one 16-25 and game two 22-25 but rallied to win the third 26-24.  The Chargers took control of game four winning 25-11 to take the match.  Senior Kate Mazzocco tallied 13 assists,  India Hartwell delivered 10 kills, Vanessa Casanova had 13 digs and Kayci Murphy registered 3 service aces for the evening.

Clark volleyball is set to begin Monday, August 10th at 5:30 at NEISD’s Littleton Gym with the traditional season opener against Churchill. Always a classic, this year’s matchup pits the Cougars against the number seven ranked Chargers. Clark graduated ten players from last season’s team and will be led this year three returning seniors: Kate Mazzocco, Kayla Jarzombek and Claire Webster, who was selected by the Express News as a “Player to Watch” in District 28 5A.  Coach Kristen Daniell’s young team will hit the ground running with two games and a tournament in this first week of the season. The 2009 editions of the Clark Cougar Football and Volleyball teams have begun official practices for their 2009 seasons.  Coach Lloyd Alexander talks about what fans can expect from this year’s varsity football team.

Men's Medley Relay at District 28-5A meet

Tryouts for the 2009-2010 Clark Cougar swim team will be held the week of August 10-14 at the Colonies House pool – that’s across from Colonies North Elementary School. The tryouts will last from 7:30-8:30 a.m.  and swimmers should plan on attending all five days.
