GUCCI BOWL PREVIEW 2012
by envisionfilmvideo.com on Aug.27, 2012, under Football
For the 29th time, Clark and Churchill will meet in the annual Gucci Bowl, the kickoff to the San Antonio High School football season. The Chargers will be trying to pull a “hat trick”, winning for three years in a row while Clark will try to put an end to opening season losses for the past two years. Both teams are starting new quarterbacks after losing players to graduation (Clark) and a family move (Churchill). The Chargers return 31 players, 6 who started. The Cougars return 12 players from last year’s 4-6 team, 6 who started for Coach Steven McGhee. This year’s game is 7pm at Comalander Stadium in the Blossom Athletic Complex (map).
Express News Preseason previews:
Clark
Churchill
The game will be carried live on Star 810AM and TSRN
- This is the 29th Gucci Bowl. The teams have met 30 times however. Besides the Gucci Bowl, Clark and Churchill also faced each other in the playoffs in 1987, 1993 and 1994.
- Clark leads the all time record 15-14-2 and the Gucci Bowl record 14-12-2
- A Churchill win this year would give both teams a “three-peat” in the series. Clark won the Gucci Bowl ’94-’95-’96
