CLARK WINS AGAIN, UNDEFEATED AT SCHOOL BEST 12-0
by envisionfilmvideo.com on Nov.21, 2009, under Football
The first sign it might not be a good trip south for Austin Bowie was the name of the chartered buses rented to transport the team to the Alamodome – Clark Travel. Not kidding. And from there on out, it was the Cougars who rolled over the Bulldogs in the Area playoff game. Clark won 31-17.
The Cougars struck first following the opening kickoff to Bowie. At the 10:37 mark of the 1st qtr., John Manders recovered a fumble on the second play of the game setting up the offense on the 50 yd. line. Ryan Jones left for 22 yds. and then Ryan Jones right for another 28 put the Cougars up 7-0. Shocked but not down, Bowie responded with a drive that ended with a 28 yd. field goal making it 7-3 at the end of 1.

COUGARS GROUND T’BIRDS, ADVANCE TO ROUND 2
by envisionfilmvideo.com on Nov.14, 2009, under Football
For the 7th time this season, the Clark Cougar defense has held a team to under 100 yds.rushing and shut down a premier running back. San Antonio rushing leader David Glasco never got his jets started and the result provided a 17-10 win over District 27-5A runner up Wagner Thunderbirds in a bi-district playoff game.
Hayden Greenbauer and the offense took it from there and hammered, hammmered, hammered the overmatched T’birds. The fun began on the opening kickoff. Clark kicked to Wagner and Glenn Bonner stripped the ball from the Wagner runner to set up the Cougars on offense. The hammering began with heavy doses of Greenbauer left, right, and up the middle and at the 6:33 mark of the 1st qtr. Hayden to0k it in from the 1 for a 7-0 lead.
In the 2nd qtr., the defense forced a punt from Wagner. Joey Cammer blew past his defender to block the punt, setting up the next Cougar points. Greenbauer would score again at the 9:58 mark with a 5 yd. run. Wagner would strike back quickly with a 56 yd. pass TD on the following possession. Webb Williams kicked a 30 yd. FG to make it 17-7 Clark. On the next Wagner drive, Joey Cammer once again delivered a HUGE hit on third down to force Wagner into a FG of its own to send the teams into halftime with Clark leading 17-10. (continue reading…)
CLARK PICKED TO WIN

The San Antonio Express-News breaks down the area 5A Division 1 playoffs like this:
By Burt Henry and Dan McCarney – Express-News
Class 5A Division I
Favorite: Clark (10-0). With a dominant offensive line, a stifling defense that allows only 8.7 points and 190 yards per game and veteran experience to spare, the Cougars are tailor-made for the playoffs.
Team you don’t want to meet: Roosevelt (7-3). The streaky Rough Riders are back to their early-season form with three straight wins, the most recent knocking longtime nemesis Smithson Valley out of postseason contention.
Game we’d like to see: Clark vs. Southwest (9-0). San Antonio’s only unbeaten teams are carbon copies with their smash-mouth styles. An added twist — the two met in a double-overtime classic, won by Southwest, in the 2007 playoffs.
Elsewhere the paper offers a final look at their Fantasy team point totals with a “Superlative” nod to Clark kicker Webb Williams and more importantly a not so fantasy forecast for a Clark victory on Friday night.

ONCE A COUGAR ALWAYS A COUGAR
by Fan4Clark on Nov.11, 2009, under Football
The Clark football team has launched an effort to both honor and aid O’Connor H.S. principal Larry Martin as he fights thyroid cancer. Mr. Martin is a former Clark coach and administrator. Football players are selling black and silver spirit ribbons for $2 each to raise money in support of Mr. Martin and his family during this difficult time.
The ribbons read: “Play Off Bound, Playing in Support of Larry Martin. Once a Cougar Always a Cougar”
The team is asking fans to help them show Mr. Martin and his family how much the Clark Cougars care about their own.
Mr. Martin was a coach at Clark many years ago and was Clark’s Vice Principal from 1997-1999 and the Clark Principal from 1999-2000. It was at that time that he was first diagnosed with thyroid cancer.
Buy your ribbon in support of Mr. Martin from any Clark football player.
