P.O.W. FOR PATINO
by envisionfilmvideo.com on Sep.14, 2010, under Football
Congratulations to Clark Cougar varsity football player Kris Patino, who earned Defensive Player of the Week honors from the Express News. Patino helped lead a unit who shutout the Taft Raiders in a 10-0 victory in the Cougars first district game.
The last time Clark blanked Taft was 1989, a few years before the senior class was born.
DEFENSE GETS SHUTOUT, COUGARS GET “W”
by envisionfilmvideo.com on Sep.09, 2010, under Football
Following a tough outing against Alamo Heights, the Clark Cougar defense stepped up and shut down a Taft offense that scored 35 points the week before, giving Clark a 10-0 win over the Raiders.
The first quarter ended 0-0 with the Cougars driving and Deandre Holmes converting a 4th and 1 with :33 seconds to go. The drive would continue into the 2nd quarter but stalled.
With 6:27 left in the half, Josh Kern set up the Cougars first score of the evening with a 42 yd. bootleg run giving the Cougars the ball on the 6 yd. line. Webb Williams made a 26 yd. field goal giving the Cougars a 3-0 lead at the half.
The 2nd half began the same way as the first half went for Taft – with three plays and a punt. Peter Rozanski had a tackle for a loss on second down of the Taft possession to put them in a hole.
’09 WINS IN ’10

A much improved Clark Cougar varsity football team scored often but had trouble stopping an Alamo Heights air attack, losing to the Mules 33-29. The Cougars are now 0-2 as they prepare for a district opener against Taft.
Alamo Heights struck first with a FG and then added 7 more points with 7 seconds left in the first quarter to take a 9-0 lead in what appeared to be the end of the quarter. Momentum, however, jumped to Clark’s side as Ryan Jones ended the 1st quarter with a 94 yard kickoff return. Going into the 2nd quarter, the score was 9-7 Alamo Heights.
The second quarter belonged to the Cougars, who scored two touchdowns but gave up another field goal and TD , the latter coming moments before halftime. Ryan Jones once again found the end zone and Deandre Holmes scored his first varsity TD with 1:43 left in the half. The Cougars went to the locker room with a 22-19 advantage.

COUGARS JV FOOTBALL 1-0
by envisionfilmvideo.com on Aug.27, 2010, under Football
The Clark Cougars JV team gave Clark fans a little to cheer about with a 28-8 “slobberknocker” over the Churchill Chargers. Sophomore QB Chase Jones accounted for three rushing touchdowns behind a strong o-line effort. Dusty Wright had an interception and several stops for the defense in their outstanding effort.
The JV 2nd team also beat the Chargers 20-8 in the early game. The freshman A team fell short but the freshman B team won their game against Churchill.
THIRD TIME CHARMLESS
by envisionfilmvideo.com on Aug.27, 2010, under Football
Clark was looking to make it three years in a row over Churchill but a young team that made some early season mistakes and a tough Charger effort led to a 21-7 loss in the 27th Gucci Bowl. Two early possession fumbles cost the Cougars two touchdowns and several penalties also cost the Cougars positive yards.
There were several bright spots, however, including a nice combination of QB Josh Kern to his receivers Brandon Yates, Jeremy Harris, and Austin Wise; good running by Ryan Jones, a rambling, rumbling Jimmy Kueber reception, several 4th down conversions, a classic rushing TD by Clark and a second half shutout by a defense led by Daniel Durke and Kris Patino along with newcomer Colton Magaro.
The Cougars look to eliminate the mistakes and rebound next week against Alamo Heights in the first home game of the season.
