CLARK ALUM PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Colorado School of Mines’ Adam Saur (’05) has been selected as the National Football Foundation (NFF) & College Hall of Fame – Colorado Chapter Player of the Week. Saur, a 6’3″, 200-lb. senior wide receiver from Clark High School, was also selected as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Offensive Player of the Week. CLARK CRUSHES TAFT

Clark volleyball defeated Taft in three decisive games at Paul Taylor Fieldhouse. The Cougars dominated the match winning 25-16, 25-17, 25-11. India Hartwell led Clark with 10 kills, Katlin Mazzocco had 18 assists and Vanessa Casanova had 14 digs as the Cougars brought their district record to 5-2.
Next up is Holmes, coached by Clark alum, Melissa Thrailkill (’05). Thrailkill is busy taking what she learned from her state championship team at Clark and using it to turn around the program at Holmes. Click and read about it in a recent Express-News article.
FORMER COUGAR GETS NATIONAL PROPS

2006 Clark Cougar graduate and current Texas A&M Aggie senior outside hitter Mary Batis has been named the National Player of the Week by College Volleyball Update. Battis led the Cougars while at Clark to the state tournament and received numerous awards at the local, state and national levels. You can read more about this award here or more about Mary here.

FORMER CLARK HOOPS STAR IN SPOTLIGHT

Trent Plaisted, a 2004 graduate of Clark and an All State basketball player, is featured in today’s Express – News on the front page of the sports section. Drafted by the Seattle Sonics in 2008, Plaisted now plays for the Detroit Pistons. In case you don’t have a copy, go here to read more about his travels around the world in trying to make it on a NBA team. In a side note: the Plaisted family had an impact in another area of Clark athletics. Trent’s older sister Diana was an All State soccer player for the Cougars who helped propel Clark to the State Tournament in 2001.

CLARK ALUM EXCELS AT TEXAS A&M

Morgan Lucas, a 2006 graduate of Clark, received the Most Improved Rider award from the Texas A&M Equestrian team. A rider who competes in English riding, mostly fences and flat, Morgan has extensive experience in the Texas Hunter-Jumper Association, earning multiple top 10 finishes over the past several years. She has also won several level 5 jumper championships and modified junior/amateur division top three placings. Texas A&M’s Equestrian team is one of the tops in the nation, winning numerous national titles competing in NCAA events.
DULLNIG GETS REGIONAL HONORS

Congratulations to former Clark (’07) football and baseball player Cameron Dullnig. He was named to the 2009 NJCAA Region XIV All-Conference Team as a shortstop for Navarro College in Corsicana, Texas.
