The Clark Cougars celebrated Homecoming with a solid team effort and a win over the Stevens Falcons at Gustafson Stadium. Running back Ryan Jones racked up 145 yards rushing and caught the eye of the TSRN radio crew who named him “Player of the Game”. Read all about our heroes in the Express News.

Clark remains undefeated at 4-0. Next up for the Cougars – the Marshall Rams. GO COOGS!

VOLLEYBALL WHIPS WARREN

Clark took care of  business in their match up against Warren at Paul Taylor Field House beating the warriors 25-23, 25-17, 25-19. India Hartwell had 10 kills, Katlin Mazzocco had 17 assists and Vanessa Casanova had 19 digs in the game. The win brings Clark’s district record to 4-2 and their overall season record to 12-14. Next up is a non-district game against New Braunfels at home in the main gym at Clark on Friday at 7:30.

WEBSTER COMMITS TO MSU

Clark volleyball’s Claire Webster has committed to play for the Midwestern State University Mustangs next year. Webster, a senior,  starts for the Cougars as right side hitter and was 2nd Team All District in 28 5A last year. Midwestern State is located in Wichita Falls, Texas and plays in the Lone Star Conference as a Division II school. Congratulations Claire!

VOLLEYBALL TAKES DISTRICT WIN

Clark beat Marshall in four games 25-22, 25-16, 18-25, 25-13 as the volleyball team improved its district record to 2-1. Leading the Cougars in assists was Kate Mazzocco with 24 , India Hartwell had 17 kills and Vanessa Casanova had 10 digs. Clark takes on Jay at Paul Taylor Field House on Wednesday, September 9th.

COUGARS SURVIVE TRIP TO ’09er LAND

O-Line hammers away at Mules

O-Line hammers away at Mules

Clark Cougar fans stayed on the edge of their seats all night, but in the end they left the Mules out in the rain as the team took a narrow 14-13 win over Alamo Heights and boosted their season record to 2-0. The rainy, hard fought victory featured gutsy performances by quarterback Hayden Greenbauer, running back Ryan Jones and all their friends on the offensive line. Check out a rundown on the action in the Express-News. The pursuit of a district championship begins next week against Brandeis.

VOLLEYBALL BEATS STEVENS

Clark volleyball notched its first district win of the season with a victory over the Stevens Falcons at Paul Taylor Field House. The Cougars won in straight games 25-17, 25-19, 25-20. Marcella Arellano and Claire Webster led the way with 11 kills each. Arellano also had 15 digs and setter Kate Mazzocco had 15 assists. Next for Clark  is a match up with Marshall on Friday, September 4th at 7:00 p.m. at O’Connor.

VOLLEYBALL: CLARK VS. CHURCHILL

Clark volleyball is set to begin Monday, August 10th at 5:30 at NEISD’s Littleton Gym with the traditional season opener against Churchill. Always a classic, this year’s matchup pits the Cougars against the number seven ranked Chargers. Clark graduated ten players from last season’s team and will be led this year three returning seniors: Kate Mazzocco, Kayla Jarzombek and Claire Webster, who was selected by the Express News as a “Player to Watch” in District 28 5A.  Coach Kristen Daniell’s young team will hit the ground running with two games and a tournament in this first week of the season. SOFTBALL CHAMPS SHOWCASE COUGARS

There’s a roster full of Clark Cougars on the  2009 Texas State Champions in Senior League softball and the team is just one game away from the Senior League World Series.  The Champs have rolled through Divisional, Sectional and Regional playoffs and plan to make their last stop Sussex County, Delaware where they will compete for a world championship. The Cougars on the team include pitchers Henessey Soto and Megan Aragones, 1st baseman Felicia Sanchez, 2nd baseman Britney Ramos, 3rd baseman Megan Martinez and Centerfielder Dani Nash. All six girls played varsity softball for Clark in the spring. They are joined on the team by 3 players who will be entering Clark this fall. *Editor’s note: The Texas Champs came up short in their bid to make the World Series, falling 6-1 in the championship game.
