CITY TO CELEBRATE WORLD CHAMPIONS

The World Champion Northside Suburban Softball All Stars will be honored  on the San Antonio Riverwalk this Saturday morning. The team, featuring seven Clark Cougar softball players, will be celebrated at the Arneson River Theater starting at 10 a.m. Read more in the Express News. Clark fans are encouraged to show up loud and proud!

CHAMPIONS WELCOMED HOME

The Northside Suburban Softball All Stars, otherwise known as World Champions, were greeted by a crowd of supporters at Clark on Sunday night on their return from the World Series in Delaware. The Northside team, composed of seven Clark Cougar softball players, won the championship over a team from New York on Saturday in a game televised on ESPN.  The girls represented the Southwest USA and had a remarkable 17-0 run through the All Star competition. WORLD CHAMPIONS!!

The Northside Suburban Little League Softball All Stars are on top of the world. The team, featuring seven Clark Cougars, won the Senior Softball World Series on Saturday in Delaware and they did live on ESPN2.  Representing the Southwest USA the girls beat the USA East team from New York 3-1, breaking a 1-1 tie in the top of the 7th inning.  Read more in the Express-News.

The Clark softball players are Henessey Soto, Megan Aragones, Felicia Sanchez, Alex Losoya, Britney Ramos,  Morgan Biela and Morgan Herrera.

Congratulations girls! San Antonio and the Clark community are proud of you!

The team will arrive at Clark at 7:00 pm Sunday evening in the student parking lot. Everyone is invited to welcome and congratulate them at that time! Come an hour early and join local radio and TV stations as they broadcast live from Clark.

ALL STARS PLAY FOR CHAMPIONSHIP ON ESPN 2

The Northside Suburban Softball All Star team is 5-0 after a dominating 13-0 win over an Indiana team at the Senior Softball World series in Delaware. This places them in the Championship game Saturday at 10:00 am and you can catch it live on ESPN 2. The team includes 7 Clark softball players. Read details here.

COOGS COME UP BIG – AGAIN – IN WORLD SERIES

Northside Suburban All Stars

Northside Suburban, led by a host of Clark Cougars, remains undefeated at the Senior Softball World Series in Delaware. Playing as the USA Southwest team, the Northside girls won a spot in the tournament semi-finals with an 8-0 thrashing of Tucson, Arizona – the USA West team – on Thursday. Clark pitchers Henessey Soto and Megan Aragones made sure Tucson didn’t get a single run and only two hits. Soto, Aragones and Cougar teammates Alex Losoya, Britney Ramos and Felicia Sanchez also brought in the runs. Get the details in the Express News.

A win Friday night against South Bend, Indiana means a spot in the championship game Saturday morning on ESPN2 at 10 a.m.

OLLENDIECK GETS TOP POST AT SOUTHWEST

Former Hobby Middle School basketball coach Reggie Ollendieck has been named the new head basketball coach at Southwest High School. Ollendieck spent 5 years at Hobby coaching many current and former Clark Cougars. He was known as a  fundamentals focused coach who had great success with his Hobby Hawk teams. Ollendieck has been an assistant at Southwest for two years and was named a finalist by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches for Assistant Coach of the Year in 2008-09.

ATTENTION FUTURE COUGARS: TIME TO CHEER!

Cheer clinic coming up

On Saturday, August 21st from 8:30 – 11:45, the Clark Cheerleaders will be hosting their Annual Gucci Bowl Cheer Clinic in the Clark gym. The Cheerleaders will teach chants and cheers and Pinnacle Cheer Coaches will be on hand to lead tumbling activities.  The cost is $20 and includes the clinic, a picture with the cheerleaders and lunch.  T-shirts and hair ribbons will also be on sale.  Participants will be able to perform with the Clark Cheerleaders at the Gucci Bowl Pep  Rally -“Back in Black” -on Wednesday, August 25th at 6:30.  For more information, please contact Hope Britt at 210-397-5273.

RUNNERS RECOGNIZED

Two Clark Cross Country Athletes received recognition from the website TXrunning.com. In District IV-5A Cross Country Previews, Austin Wells, sophomore, was recognized as a player to watch for the boys and Shantel Swift, Junior, was recognized as a player to watch for the girls. Congratulations to these mighty fast Clark Cougars! The link to the website .

Which reminds us: Cross Country practice is underway! Come join the team as they prepare for their first meet on September 4th. You do not need to be in the Cross Country class in order to participate, but must like early mornings! Come on out and see if you’ve got what it takes. COUGARS COME UP BIG IN WORLD SERIES

The Northside Suburban Senior Softball All-Stars remain undefeated at the World Series in Delaware following a nailbiter of a win over Puerto Rico on Tuesday. Clark pitcher Henessey Soto used her bat to help start a rally in the 4th inning as she and a teammate drove in runs to tighten what was a three run deficit to 4-3. Then in the 6th inning Clark Cougar Felicia Sanchez hit an in the park home run to take a 6-4 lead and the win.
Tucson, Arizona is next on the list for the Northside team. That game will be Thursday at 4:30.
The All-Star team includes 7 Clark softball players.
