GUCCI BOWL SHUTOUT

The Clark Cougars started the 2009 season with a shutout of the Churchill Chargers in the 26th annual Gucci Bowl. The final score was 27-0 and was the 4th shutout in the history of the event. Photos, interviews and more to follow. WAY TO GO COUGARS!

The 26th Annual Gucci Bowl game between Clark and Churchill kicks off tonight at 7:00pm. The annual Back in Black Pep Rally, sponsored but the Clark Athletic Booster Club, was a roaring success as this year’s varsity teams were introduced and the Booster Club presented Athletic Director/Head Coach Lloyd Alexander a check for $20,000. Jay Tope of SASports.com hosted the event and made it a great night.
Other GUCCI BOWL tidbits:
- The game will be televised LIVE on KMYS Channel 35 (7 Time Warner) in San Antonio. It will also be LIVE on the internet.
- At halftime, fans can vote for the best band. The band with the most votes at the end of the season will play in the Army All-American Bowl.

VOLLEYBALL DROPS FIRST DISTRICT GAME

In the district opener for both teams, #6 ranked Brandeis defeated the Cougars 3-1. In Game 1, Clark fell behind 13-18 but stiffened up to tie the game at 20. Brandeis ended up winning 22-25 but the momentum helped Clark win Game 2. The teams traded points until Clark pulled away at 10-6. The Cougars would hold the lead until the Broncos tied it at 22 each. (continue reading…)
VOLLEYBALL OPENS DISTRICT PLAY

The Clark Cougar volleyball teams start District 28-5A today. Brandeis, #6 in the Express News, is the first opponent on the district schedule. Today’s varsity game begins at 5:30pm at O’Connor. Good Luck ladies!

The Clark Cougars, who finished last year as the #2 team in the KSAT 12 poll, start the season at #5 from the folks who do Big Game Coverage. District foe Warren is listed at #3. The Express News has the team at #4 in the area, Dave Campbell’s Texas Football has the Cougars at #16 in the state and 5aTexasFootball.com lists the Cougars at #25 in Texas. The Clark Cougars open the season against the Churchill Chargers in the annual Gucci Bowl.

VOLLEYBALL SHOWS WELL IN NEISD TOURNAMENT

Though not perfect, the Clark Cougar volleyball team fared well in the NEISD Tournament. In games against Churchill, Boerne Champion and MacArthur, the Cougars lost to Churchill and Boerne Champion but beat the Brahmas. Their record is now 6-8 on the year. District play starts Tuesday against #6 ranked Brandeis at O’Connor
VB WINS 2, CHURCHILL REMATCH

The Clark Cougars volleyball took a match to wake up but then rose to the occasion In the NEISD tournament Friday. The Cougars lost to Alamo Heights but then posted victories over Johnson and Southwest. They set up a rematch with the Chargers of Churchill Saturday at 10am. Congrats ladies and GO COOGS!
