COUGARS SPLIT AT LONE STAR

by on Dec.06, 2010, under Basketball

Palacios and Cougars looking good

The boys varsity basketball team won twice but also came up short twice in the weekend’s Lone Star Tournament.  The Cougars began the weekend with a win over Wagner, 64-53.  Losses to Lewisville (49-52) and #10 in Texas Kingwood (37-48) were sandwiched in between the final game of the weekend where Clark defeated #24 in Texas Laredo United 45-43 in a nail-biter.  Down in the first half, the Cougars turned it around in the second half for the victory.

The boys are now 8-5 and take on Sequin next.  Jacob Palacios received some extra accolades from here.

COUGARS TAKE RATTLERS TO BRINK

by on Nov.24, 2010, under Basketball

Jacob Palacios splits the Rattlers for two

The Clark Cougars boys basketball team took on the #5 in the state Reagan Rattlers but fell just shy of the upset, 50-52.  The Cougars, who looked sharp against the highly-rated team, stayed close through the first two quarters and even led at the end of three but a 3-point frenzy by Reagan’s Max Yon put the Cougars down by 10 with six minutes left in the game.  With the score 51-41 in favor of the Rattlers, Jacob Palacios sunk a 3-point shot and made a crucial free throw to pull the Cougars within one with seconds left in the game. Reagan converted on a free throw on the other end and the Cougars last chance three pointer rimmed out and Reagan won the non-district contest.

The game was a great early test for the Cougars and based on the outcome, it looks to be another exciting year for players and fans.

Swift and Meade on to State!

Two Clark Cougars are headed to the State Cross Country Meet next week at Round Rock.  Glynnis Meade placed 6th at the Region IV Meet at Brooks City Base, running 11:30.3 for the 2 mile course, and Shantel Swift was 8th in 11:36.4.  It’s Shantel’s 2nd trip to State, with the top 10 finishers moving on.  Our boys ran well in a very competitive race – Austin Wells placed 19th in 15:55 and Ryan Pavlich, 151st in 17:45.  Congratulations to all 4 Regional runners!  NISD did well, placing 5 girls and 1 boy in the top 10.

Rozanski opens up a can on Husky

Congratulations to Clark Cougar varsity football player Peter Rozanski who was this week’s KSAT12 “Big Hit of the Week” (week 10).  Peter’s 1st quarter blast on a Holmes receiver could be heard loud and clear as he delivered the blow.

It was one of the three Holmes 4th down attempts that failed in the 1st quarter thanks to a stellar defensive game by the Cougars.  Clark won 56-27
