WEASEL ALERT!
by envisionfilmvideo.com on Sep.23, 2011, under Football
Some punk stole the sign that says, “It’s a great day to be a Clark Cougar” that was recently hung on the fence by the air conditioners. If you know who did it, please have them return it to Coach McGhee’s office or the main office of the school or better yet, hang it back up.
Grab some pride, Clark and let’s make it right!
And a small reward is offered if you have info on who took it. Feel free to email this site.

by envisionfilmvideo.com on Sep.21, 2011, under Golf
The Clark Cougar varsity boys golf team started the season with a solid performance, tying for 4th place at the O’Connor Icebreaker Tournament. Over 18 teams were represented in this first tournament of the season and only 4 shots separated the top 6 teams.
Clark represented District 27-5A well, placing ahead of Warren, Taft, Brandeis, Marshall and Brennan. The team they will chase all season looks to be O’Connor who also placed 4th. Clark’s own, Trevor Colen, was one of the top 10 overall best scores, with a score of 80. Great job Trevor!!
Way to start out the season JT Caldarola, Jeremy Gordon, Trevor Colen, Tyler Bercher, Chase Kellam, and Clay Traeger!

That’s right! Clark has a bowling team, including varsity boys and girls teams as well as JV. They play for a district tile, have 14 matches, and even have uniforms (hopefully those cool shirts…). And this year is just down the alley with tryouts coming up. Tryouts are Oct. 1-2 and 8-10. If you’re interested, contact the Cougar Bowling Club at 663-9477 or 523-1716 and ask for, that’s right, Joe.
RAMS MORE LIKE LAMBS AS COUGARS ROAR
by envisionfilmvideo.com on Sep.18, 2011, under Football
The Clark Cougars varsity football team had a great night against the Marshall Rams, winning 33-14 in District 27-5A action. The game didn’t start that way, however, as Clark was surprised with either a bad kickoff or an onside kick. Instead of starting their first offensive drive, the Cougar defense took the field and what would be an omen for the Rams the rest of the evening, gave the ball back to the Clark offense.
1st quarter
A rolling punt gave the Cougars a start on their own 1 yard line. Josh Kern ran for 5 yds. and then on 2nd down, Kern found Brandon Yates for a 26 yd. reception. Two plays later, Kern ran 55 yds. around the right side of the line, setting Clark up at the Marshall 10. And three plays later Kern powered his way in for the first score of the night giving Clark a 6-0 lead. At the 5:05 mark, Mekeba Henderson delivered a bone-jarring sack, resulting in a 3-and-out situation for the Rams. A Kweku Larbie run, a Manny Menezes reception and another Larbie rush quickly put the Cougars at the 26 yd. line. On 4th and 8 from the 24, Kern this time found Larbie as a receiver, and the Cougars led 13-0 with a minute left in the 1st quarter.
VOLLEYBALL PUTS STEELE KNIGHT, KNIGHT
by envisionfilmvideo.com on Sep.17, 2011, under Volleyball
The Clark Cougars slew the Steele Knights in three sets at Clark’s home gym 25-12, 25-21, 25-14. In the first game, Clark dominated, leading by as much as 14 at the 21-7 mark.
Game two, however, defined the evening for the Cougars, as they fell behind early and were down by at least 7 points for much of the contest. Down 18-15, the Cougars clawed their way back, tying the game when Rosalyn Velasquez soft tapped a shot over the net making it 18-18. From that point on, Abby Glosup set up Hunter Cole for a relentless series of kills that stunned Steele and turned the momentum over to the Cougars.
The game was a non-district contest but that action heats up again Wednesday against an improved Holmes team. The Cougars are 4-2 in district and 18-12 on the season.
Great win, ladies!

DOMINATION!
by envisionfilmvideo.com on Sep.10, 2011, under Football
The Clark Cougar varsity football team crushed the Taft Raiders 48-13 in their opening District 27-5A game. The scoring came often and through a variety of ways, beginning with the opening drive.
Lots of Larbie was served up to the Raider defense as Kweku Larbie found plenty of room to run. Alex Hunter was on the receiving end of one of Josh Kern’s three passing TD’s for the evening and Clark was on top 6-0 with only three minutes off the 1st quarter clock. On the following kickoff, Taft fumbled the ball, setting up the next Cougar score. This time Larbie got the payoff with a 5 yd. run to the endzone and a little over a minute after the Cougars’ first touchdown, the Cougars owned a 13-0 lead in the 1st. A quick three and out for Taft gave the ball back to the Cougars and Larbie rushed for his 2nd TD of the night from 3 yds out to finish the Cougar drive and make it a 20-0 game with a little over 7 minutes gone in the 1st quarter.
Manny Menezes set up the next score for Clark with a nice 20 yd. rush to the Taft 3 yd. line. Josh Kern’s 1 yd. dive gave the Cougars a 27-0 advantage with 7:37 left on the 2nd qtr. Taft added a touchdown before the half and the teams went to the locker rooms with Clark 27 – Taft 7.
The pace slowed down in the 3rd quarter although no one told the Clark defense. Daniel Orhiunu delivered an 8 yd. sack that killed a Taft drive to the end zone. Chris Miller recovered a Taft fumble later in the quarter that set up a Kern to Brandon Yates connection for 29 yds., giving the Cougars a 34-7 lead at the end of the 3rd. (continue reading…)
