Headed to Regionals!
It was an exciting day at the District 28-5A meet for the Clark Cross Country teams. The girls kicked off the bright cool morning by finishing 3rd in a close race, only 8 points behind O’Connor, who was only 1 point behind the winner Brandeis. Among the top finishers were Shantel Swift (12:22) 2nd and Glynnis Meade (12:26) 3rd – well done! Shaneve Swift (13:20), Mel Schwartz (13:30), and Katherine Ritchie (13:42) finished in the remaining scoring spots, and Stacey Wilkens (13:46) and Toria Seifert (14:04) rounded out the team.
The boys did a total turn-around from last year’s 8th place to taking 1st, last accomplished 9 years ago!!!! Wearing specially-made tattoos honoring Super Dave’s dad that passed away this week, the last of the 5 scoring runners crossed the line in only 13th place. The team was led by David Scorcelletti’s awesome 2nd place (16:06) finish. Jose Sierra (16:24) was 6th, Austin Wells (16:31) 7th, James Leopold (16:48) 10th and Ryan Pavlich (16:54) 13th. Jim Wells and John Bodkin completed the Cougar team. Way to go boys!!!!
The temperature had warmed up from 50 to 60 degrees for the JV races and the spectators began peeling off layers. The girls team finished 5th and the boys 7th. This wraps up their season, but the top 3 Varsity teams and 10 individuals move on to Regionals next Saturday at Brooks City Base. The girls run at 2:30pm and boys at 2:50pm – come cheer your Cougars on!
WAY TO GO COOGS!
