Big Plays Help Clark Win Homecoming Game
by Clark Sports Fan on Oct.11, 2014, under Uncategorized
It may be only early in October, but your Clark Cougars used tricks and treats to earn a big Homecoming victory against the Rams from Marshall. The defense set the tone for the game, forcing the Rams into a failed field goal attempt on their first possession, and holding them scoreless for the first quarter. Offensively, the Cougs fooled the Rams not once, but twice, with the half-back pass play during their first scoring drive. William Young took the hand off from Trenton Ford and found Devon Bloom in the end zone with an 8-yard pass. After Marshall got on the board early in the second quarter, William Young juggled the ensuing kick off into Clark’s end zone, but turned lemons into lemonade when he returned the kick 102 yards for the Cougars’ second touchdown of the night. Colby Lorenz followed with the extra point. Brandon Govan found the end zone for Clark before then end of the first half on a 4 yard run, and Lorenz followed with point after, giving Clark a 20-7 half time lead.
The Cougars found the end zone for the fourth and final time in the third quarter on an 8-yard run by Julian Dusuau. Lorenz followed with his third PAT of the game. Clark’s defense continued their strong night, keeping the Rams out of the end zone for the entire second half – sealing the Homecoming victory for the Cougars with a 27-7 final score.
Next up for Clark: The district foe the Panthers from O’Connor on October 18th at Farris stadium.
