X Country Runs at Blossom
by Clark Sports Fan on Sep.07, 2014, under Cross Country, Fall Sports, Uncategorized
This weekend at the NEISD Blossom invitational meet, the Clark cross country
team competed in one of the toughest races of the season. The crazy inclines,
heat and humidity were taxing on all runners no matter what school they ran for.
Instead of being intimidated however, Clark runners used the inclines to their
advantage, powering up the hills and letting loose on the descents, rapidly
passing those around them. All in all, Clark ran an excellent, controlled race,
dropping minutes from their pre-season 5k times.
Cougars Give Roosevelt a Rough Time
by Clark Sports Fan on Sep.07, 2014, under Uncategorized
It was a balmy 114 degrees, well, at least it seemed like it in the stands – but that didn’t affect your Clark Cougars, as they met non-district foe Roosevelt in Comalander Stadium Friday night. Tristan Cavazos started the scoring for the Cougars when he nailed a 42-yard field goal in the first quarter, his first of the year. Trenton Ford threw a 56-yard bomb to William Young later in the first half, and Cavazos added the extra point, giving Clark a 10-0 advantage at the half. The defense played exceptionally well – forcing the Rough Riders to turn the ball over on downs or punt every possession of the first half.
The Rough Riders were able to grind out a scoring drive in the third quarter, but the Cougars answered in the fourth with another long pass from Ford to Young – this one a 53-yarder. Roosevelt scored again with less than a minute left in the game to come within 3, but their on-side kick attempt failed, sealing the 17-14 victory for the “good guys”.
Your Clark Cougars will take their 1-1 record to Gus Stadium next Friday against the pass-happy offense of Laredo United.

Tennis Beats Brandeis
by Clark Sports Fan on Sep.05, 2014, under Spring Sports, Tennis
Cougar tennis easily handled Brandeis in its first district team tennis match up. Clark’s biggest obstacles were the weather and the power, or rather sudden lack thereof. The games started late due to the unexpected rainy weather, and then were interrupted toward the end of play when the lights at NTC abruptly went off. The Cougars kept their cool and played on for a late night win.
